It's also home to two of the most ideal and secluded coves, Castle Cove and Sugary Cove - the perfect places for an afternoon of relaxation, followed by a treat at the Dartmouth Castle Tea Rooms.
You also have your pick of some of south Devon's most fabulous beaches - the action-packed Blackpool Sands, historically renowned Slapton Sands, which is famous for its role in the Allied preparations for the D-Day landings, to the glorious sandy beaches of Bigbury, Thurlestone and Salcombe, all just a short drive away.
