At half tide Porth Beach is accessible directly from Glendorgal down its own steps roughly hewn into the rocks - but care is needed.

We had a fantastic week staying at Puffin in July 2026 and the location of the apartment is excellent, affording views of the sea and headlands around Porth beach from the balcony and outdoor decking areas. The apartment was spacious, bright and airy, allowing ample space for the six of us who were staying there to enjoy the week without ever feeling like we were getting in each others way and having separate spaces to chill out if we wanted a bit of time to ourselves. The neighbouring Lusty Glaze beach is stunning, although it can only be accessed via a steep set of steps from the top of the cliff down to beach level, so it is not accessible for anybody with limited mobility. Newquay's town centre and many beaches are only around 15 to 20 minutes walk from Puffin and it is easy to get around other locations in Cornwall from Puffin as a base for your holiday. We will definitely consider returning to Puffin in future to enjoy its facilities and lovely location again....

I took my older teenagers for a week to family friendly Puffin which was well appointed and ideally located for combining the Boardmasters Festival and everything it has to offer in Newquay as well as enjoying the nearby beaches, cafes and restaurants of Lusty Glaze, Porth and Watergate Bay. We also enjoyed several activities within a 30 minute drive including paddle boarding at Crantock Beach, Cycling the Camel Trail to Padstow and England's fastest zipwire near St Austell. ...

Beautiful cottage that I would recommend, so close to 2 beaches and easy to walk into Newquay. Couldn’t be more perfect for us.
