This was an exceptional property and the views were amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and would highly recommend it. The owner was also very helpful and we appreciated the welcome pack that was left for us.
Mrs Beardshaw August 2022
Lovely house and gardens, we had many evenings on the balcony enjoying the sea views.

St Albans House makes a good holiday base for a large family. It is clean and well equipped. The view is magnificent. Thanks to its hilly situation Ventnor is picturesque and there is plenty of opportunity for exercise between the house and the beach. We particularly enjoyed the carnival.
Mrs Casson July 2022
Another wonderful stay at this lovely property, our second year.
It's exceptionally clean and very well equipped. Kitchen has everything you could need for a family of 8 (little things like the supply of dishwasher tablets, foil etc was helpful!)
The views are amazing from the garden and lovely balcony as well as 3 of the bedrooms. Beds are comfy and having 2 lounges is lovely! Fab sofas and a separate dining room if it's too cool to eat at the outside table.
Garden is gorgeous and there's a bbq you can use.
You park at the bottom of the long steep garden and there are quite a lot of steps - unlikely to book next year purely because we should have a pram by then and not sure how we'd get a little baby and all the stuff up and down! Just bear this in mind if mobility is an issue.
Lots to do in the local area and a great base.
Looking forward to returning again in the future to this lovely house.
Mr Cook July 2022
This is a great property - well equipped, superb location (walking distance to the beach & coastal path if you are willing to brave the steep slope!) with amazing views from virtually every room. Ventor is a lovely picturesque town and the house is well placed to explore the town and island. Thoroughly recommend!
Mr Finbow May 2022
A very comfortable and well equipped house. The children loved playing on the different levels of the terraced garden whilst the adults could sit on the overlooking verandah if not participating. There were steep steps to the house and down to Ventnor and the beach.
Mrs Casson August 2021
One of the loveliest places we've stayed on the island - gorgeous views from almost every window despite having poor weather. Very clean and is well-equipped for 8 people (we were a party of 4). Felt very roomy with lots of storage, nice to have 2 separate lounge areas. Balcony was our favourite aspect, comfy lounger chairs and spent the evenings watching the ships (under a blanket!) Walkable to Ventnor beach and the gardens. Easy to park once we found the space (at the bottom of the garden which is technically on another road!) Garden has different levels with a couple of drops - would need to be cautious with a toddler and the steep incline of the garden might be difficult for those with mobility issues as was quite slippery underfoot. Beautiful outside area though and lovely benches, fruit trees and even lizards! Friendly homeowner. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, thank you.
Ms Haywood July 2021
Perfect base for a family holiday with one of the best views on the island.
Mrs McGilloway May 2021
A very special house which is in a fantastic location. The panoramic sea views are really stunning! The garden is absolutely beautiful.
Spotlessly clean and well equipped. It’s the perfect place for a holiday and within easy reach of many of the island’s attractions. We would love to return.
Mrs Humble-White July 2020
The house is immaculate, and sits in the most stunning location looking out over the sea. I don't think the photos do it justice. I'm sort of tempted to keep this place a secret, so we can stay there again, but the owner Richard was so friendly and helpful with his recommendations and local knowledge, it wouldn't be fair to keep it to myself!
The house sits high up above Ventnor and has fabulous gardens on both sides, which my children really enjoyed. There is a lovely area outside for BBQ-ing and dining and the balcony off the living room is perfect for watching the moon come up over the sea. I saw shooting stars one night!
The bedrooms are comfortable and well appointed, the views from the rooms are just amazing.
It's tricky in these Covid times to find good eateries that are actually open at the moment, so do your research before you go and book restaurants. Personal fave is Pavarottis in Shanklin for real Italian food. There's a nice fish place on Ventnor seafront - Smoking Lobster - which gets really booked, and we couldn't get a table even trying to book one week ahead.
If you decide to stay in and eat at the house, its well equipped with everything you need... except for a coffee machine! I should have packed mine, but there is a coffee filter jug instead if you need it.
Amazing week we had here, we definitely plan to go back. Huge thanks to the owner for helping us have a fantastic holiday in his home.
Ms Bailey July 2019
very clean with an excellent welcome pack. a very comfortable house and of course the views are brilliant, very pleasant sitting on the balcony with our G&Ts. the garden is large and lovely but steep and quite a struggle from the cars for 85 year olds, but worth it when we get to the top, there is a comfortable seat half way.
Mr Doughty August 2018
This accommodation was excellent. We stayed for 2 weeks and didn't want to leave when it came to an end. House was very comfortable for 8 people, very clean and nicely decorated. The beds were very comfy, kitchen had every utensil, cutlery, pots and pans, crockery and glasses you could ever need, and towels were supplied for bathroom use.
The owner and the housekeeper were very friendly and helpful and the complimentary items were a great touch. Views from the property and the large balcony are magnificent panoramas of the sea, with many ships passing on a daily basis. The garden to the property was very nice with many levels as the property is on a gradient, as are the majority of priorities in Ventnor. This means there will be a bit of climbing involved, perfectly fine for the average person but something to bear in mind if you or your party is a little unsteady on their feet.
We've stayed on the island many years, but this was the first time in Ventnor, we found it to be great with plenty of local shops and places to eat, with a great fish and chip shop over the road. The spyglass Inn and the Met Italia were very good too.
Overall a great place to spend your hard worked for holiday. Would love to stay again.
Mrs Clarke May 2018
Lovely large house in a great location. Steps down to the beach might not be great for younger children. Beach was small but lovely and local amenities were perfect. We really enjoyed our stay.

We're so pleased you enjoyed your say in Ventnor, and that the house suited your party. There are a few access points to the beach, so you can avoid the wooden steps if they are a bit daunting for the younger children and use one of the sets of stone steps instead. Tanya, Customer Support
