Lovely cottage in ideal location beautiful bed linen and large fluffy towels were a bonus.warm and cosy very well equipped and a parking space.. essential in Portscatho
Mr Roe March 2022
A cheerily decorated and very comfortable cottage in the heart of the village. Well equipped and with a delightful double bedroom looking out to the sea. You can soak after a long day in the wonderful bathroom tub ! If you're tall, mind your head, and Wifi would make it nigh on perfect. Thoroughly recommended.
C and S, Putney March 2022
Mrs Rollo February 2022
Excellent value for money. Comfortable stay, except my husband kept banging his head, so be warned if you’re tall. Great company.

Thanks so much for your review and we're so pleased to hear that you had a comfortable stay. Opal Cottage is a property that boasts traditional features such as an inglenook fireplace, steep cottage stairs and low head height, so we do ask guests to take care on our website. Miss Hagger December 2021
We had a lovely stay in the cottage. It's very cosy. The location couldn't be better. Portscatho is absolutely charming. We hope to return again in the future.
Mrs Fraser October 2021
Very well stocked , great location and plenty of hot water !
Dr Haresnape August 2021
Wonderfully central location. Lovely little fenced courtyard outside the front door which is safe for children.
For anyone with small children it's worth noting that the second bedroom opens directly onto the stairs - for us this meant that we had to accompany our children to the toilet if they woke in the night, whereas they would take themselves on their own at home.
Miss Lenderyou May 2021
Lovely cottage. Great location, near the square and the beach. Beautifully clean with comfy beds. Will book again.
Mr Stewart September 2020
+Overall very happy. The stairs are a problem; we coped (with care) but some might not. Double bed on the narrow side by modern standards but despite this very comfortable. Sitting room comfortable; TV excellent, though it would be good to have WiFi ! For those doing full self-catering (we ate out quite a lot) the kitchen utensils did not fully cover all needs though the cooker, dishwasher etc were very good. Drainage probably fairly antiquated; the occasional aroma was detectable but having stayed in numerous houses in the area this is probably a Portscatho problem and not one confined to Opal Cottage. Very good to have a designated parking spot.
Mrs Bryan January 2020
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Opal Cottage. it was warm and comfortable and situated in our favourite Cornish village. Having a designated parking space was a real bonus. We intend revisiting Opal Cottage again in the not too distant future. Thank you for a lovely post-Christmas relaxing visit.
Mrs Hughes September 2019
We loved our stay at Opal Cottage. It is well equipped and well furnished and the added bonus of milk, coffee, tea, sugar and local shortbread on arrival, was a delight. The stairs are very steep, so unsuitable for young children or the elderly. Going to the toilet in the middle of the night definitely needs a light on to negotiate the stairs!!!! Portscatho is amazing with everything on the doorstep. We will definitely be returning to Opal Cottage again. Thank you Classic Cottages for an amazing holiday.

Thanks for taking the time to review Opal Cottage - it's great to hear you had a lovely time overall. The stairs at the cottage are steep (as detailed in the description) which is common for an older cottage, but we'll certainly forward your suggestion for the addition of a light to the owners for their attention. Mrs Ferris August 2019
A lovely stay in this little cottage in the centre of Portscatho - great central location and ideal for meeting up with extended family also staying nearby. The patio at the front was lovely to sit in, in the morning sun and we enjoyed everything this village has to offer.
Mrs Gordon July 2019
In general this is a lovely cottage and so would happily stay there again.
Mrs Parfitt July 2019
Second time here. Location is great and look forward to coming back.
Mrs McCormack June 2019
We had a great stay, lovely cottage in excellent position, and very comfy bed. We had a slight problem regarding the hot water and this was swiftly resolved. We'll be back.
Mrs Scroop May 2019
We had a super week at Opal Cottage. Comfortable and full of character. Kitchen was well equipped and the house was sparkling clean and welcoming. Great location with everything we needed (beach, shop and pub!) right on the doorstep. Service from Classic Cottages and from the property managers was excellent.

Lovely touches like milk in the fridge, biscuits & fire supplies
Mr Gegg October 2018
Historic & very comfortable...a wonderful Stay..
Mr Moodley August 2018
Really good location and my kids loved it. They even tried to convince me to sell my current home and move there. Only thing I would say to others that’s booking is that you please watch your head especially if you 6ft or more. Bumped mine a few times but got used to it by day 3. Would definitely be returning.
Mrs Forbes July 2018
We loved this cottage, the location in the beautiful village of Portscatho is perfect. We did not want to leave and would certainly come back.
Mrs Drew June 2018
Well, what can we say! This cottage was an absolute dream! It ticked every box on our "cottage want" list - near a pub/restaurant, parking outside cottage, near the coastal paths and beaches, nearby convenience store that sold absolutely everything (we didn't use the car once!), gorgeous, traditional interiors. We couldn't ask for more.
Mr Hill April 2018
Position in the village was perfect. Bed in front bedroom very comfortable - good nights sleep.Bathroom perfect. However the toilet was very basic. Bins - information very sketchy. Neighbour kindly gave us the information which should have been in the Cottage details. Television - if we were lucky enough to get a signal, the picture would regularly buffer or stop altogether. Jess, the local representative, tried to help but to no avail. It is a shame these situations arose as it was an enjoyable stay. Sadly we will not be returning to Opal Cottage.

Although this property has an ideal location it is not suitable for the elderly or people with mobility problems.

Thanks for your review of Opal Cottage; as detailed, this is a traditional property with steep cottage-style stairs. We do have many properties without stairs, so if such a property would fit your requirements more fully, please do ask our Booking Office team to help you find an alternative for your next holiday. Mrs Mason May 2017
Great value for money cottage, perfect location in a beautiful village.
Mrs Tiney May 2017
The bed was comfy- nice and firm. Maybe inspecting the properties more frequently would help limit things like poor cleanliness and damaged or missing items?

We were so sorry that you found some inventory items missing and that you felt some areas had been overlooked during the changeover. We've raised this with the housekeeping team to make sure this doesn't happen again. Great to hear that the bed was comfy though - we know that's very important when on holiday.
