John's Deli has shops and cafes in both Appledore and Instow. There are also some excellent pubs and little galleries to browse in.
The local pub is just down the road.
Across the estuary, reached by a lovely seasonal passenger ferry, is Instow, where there are wide sandy beaches at low and high tide.
A few hundred yards away you can stroll down the slipway at low tide for a sandy stretch of beach for your four-legged friend and children to enjoy.
Appledore is a traditional old fishing village with a wonderful network of little lanes and passageways to explore.
Catch the ferry from Bideford quay for a day out to Lundy Island.
North Devon's beaches are as good as any in Cornwall for surfing! Endless stretches of golden sand and rolling waves. This is Saunton Sands.

A stunning cottage which was warm and comfortable. Dont let the lack parking put you off , it was never a problem with a car park just 2 min walk or a larger one 5 min walk along the quayside. We loved our stay

Brilliant cottage, some noise from the local pub but that offsets against the great location to everything. Very comfortable cottage. Be aware of the steep stairs though! We eventually got used to them but they were a little steep. My daughter said she wants to live in a cottage like this when she grows up!...
