A warm welcome awaits you from the minute you arrive at Poachers Cottage.
The slate floor of the kitchen/dining-room adds to the traditional feel but is also great for dogs after a walk along the beach.
There is a really comfortable living-room with a wood-burner effect electric stove to give extra warmth out-of-season.
The twin bedroom is the first bedroom at the top of the stairs.
Across the estuary, reached by a lovely seasonal passenger ferry, is Instow, where there are wide sandy beaches at low and high tide.
Poachers Cottage is a lovely little fisherman's cottage located in a car free cobbled courtyard setting just yards from the sea views.
Another view of the sitting-room - this window looks out to the courtyard.
The living-room has a little electric wood-burner effect stove which helps warm the room on those colder nights.
Colourful seaside theme decorations ensure a welcoming holiday feel to the cottage
The kitchen fits perfectly along the wall of the open plan kitchen/dining-room offering a great social space and is the heart of the cottage.
The first floor is accessed via the stairs please note these are step but with a handrail to the top.
The dining-area also looks out over the courtyard.
The Kitchen/diner looks out over the cobbles courtyard to the front of the Cottage.
This bedroom is the first as you step onto the landing and has been furnished to the highest of standards.
Each room has a calming influence with wonderful layering of fabrics.
The separate shower-room which is on the first floor with the bedrooms.
This is the master bedroom is a wonderful room to lay your head after a busy day of exploring. The bedroom benefits from an en-suite bathroom.
The master en suite is larger than average with a shower over the bath, the other door takes you out on to the landing.
This is the en suite bathroom which offers a bath as well as a fitted shower.
John's Deli has shops and cafes in both Appledore and Instow. There are also some excellent pubs and little galleries to browse in.
This is the view across the estuary and out to sea - just a few steps away from the cottage.
Appledore is a traditional old fishing village with a wonderful network of little lanes and passageways to explore.
A few hundred yards away you can stroll down the slipway at low tide for a sandy stretch of beach for your four-legged friend and children to enjoy.
North Devon's beaches are as good as any in Cornwall for surfing! Endless stretches of golden sand and rolling waves. This is Saunton Sands.
This is a great destination for keen sailors - but it is just as fascinating to sit on the quay and watch.

A stunning cottage which was warm and comfortable. Dont let the lack parking put you off , it was never a problem with a car park just 2 min walk or a larger one 5 min walk along the quayside. We loved our stay

A cosy, comfortable, well equipped cottage which is close to all amenities offered by Appledore.

Beautiful cozy cottage, relaxing and wonderful place to stay! We will be back

Lovely stay in a quiet spot with everything you need nearby.

Excellent cottage in a lovely location

Our second stay at Poachers, very cosy, comfortable, clean cottage. Lovely location.

Lovely cottage in a fabulous location- our first visit to Appledore and we fell in love with it

Brilliant cottage, some noise from the local pub but that offsets against the great location to everything. Very comfortable cottage. Be aware of the steep stairs though! We eventually got used to them but they were a little steep. My daughter said she wants to live in a cottage like this when she grows up!

Poacher's Cottage is a beautiful, homely little place that's very comfortable for 4. Two bathrooms is a real luxury and it is surprisingly spacious generally. Having the Royal George 20 yards away is a real bonus but all of Appledore is delightful. The stairs are steep for older guests but there are railings both sides, so fine with a little care. All in all, a wonderful place to stay and heartily recommended!

Great location in a fabulous setting. Just 30 paces to a wonderful pub but very quiet off a small side street. Well recommended.

Not that we are tv fans and dont like wasting precious time , but for someone who is keen , perhaps tv channels were a bit limited, unless we did not understand the netflix instructiions which we did not manage to get as per instructions.

There's an Amazon Fire Stick at Poachers Cottage which provides lots of choice for guests. It seems that the TV had been inadvertently switched over to the terrestrial channels so some clearer instructions will be provided to prevent any further confusion - thanks for letting us know! Poachers cottage is a really lovely comfortable cosy place to stay. It’s in an ideal location with a pub and the sea just a few steps from the front door. It was extremely clean and had everything you would need. Our dog loved all of the walks and it was so nice not to have to use the car. We definitely hope to stay again soon. The only downside are the stairs, which were absolutely fine for us but if you were elderly or had mobility problems then, unfortunately, it’s not for you.

Property was very clean on arrival and well-equipped. Nice touch to be greeted with wine, biscuits and milk. Highly recommended. Fantastic location and very friendly neighbours. Overall excellent!

Loved our stay in Appledore in Piachers cottage, the cottage was in a perfect location, was an amazing home from home, great cosy place. Can’t wait to go back

A really nice cosy and comfortable cottage in a fabulous location! Appledore is a great destination for a quiet break but with enough choice of quality places to eat and drink. We will almost certainly be returning to Poachers Cottage in the future.

Appledore is a lovely village, the cottage was immaculate and well positioned. Would definitely return

Great location.

Pretty, comfortable cottage in a quiet location suitable for families with small children. Handy for the beach and local pubs.

Really think you should review the description of the stairs. It wasn't a massive problem for us but we have friends who would really struggle.

Thanks so much for your review. As a traditional Fisherman's Cottage Poachers Cottage does contain many of the typical original period features such as steep cottage stairs as mentioned in the description but we're pleased it wasn't too much of an issue for you. Bryony, Customer Services

A pleasant and comfortable stay. Parking in the local car park worked out well and we found Appledore a quiet yet enjoyable place to stay with good quality shops and eateries.

Lovely comfortable accommodation. We thoroughly enjoyed our week.

Pretty cottage in a fabulous location, perfect for a week by the beach.

A cosy & well located cottage, with decent sized rooms & well equipped kitchen. Lovely welcome touch was the wine & fresh cake which was gratefully received after our journey!

Great location right by the sea! Perfect for a quick weekend away letting the kids run free on the beach and hours of crabbing!

This is a beautiful, snug and well-maintained holiday cottage. Peaceful, very close to the village and lovely walks. I would recommend it to anyone. Appledore is a wonderful village with a real community feel. I would definitely recommend the Market Street Kitchen for ambience, coffee, breakfast, lunch - staff are friendly and helpful, food is of excellent quality and good value for money and they also welcome dogs!

The cottage is very cosy and comfortable, warm, close to shops and pubs. We came for a quiet break and we certainly got this. It was our first time in a cottage and Appledore. I would recommend the cottage - we will certainly return.

Wow this really was a hidden gem, from the moment we arrived we fell in love with the cottage and surrounding Appledore. It was great to find a place so friendly and so far unspoilt. Great food and great company. Can't wait to go again, it will be nice to see The Royal George pub up and running.

A very chilled out cottage in a chilled out Location.

A lovely cottage with lovely walks. Very comfortable and well equipped.

Loved the cottage and its location. Everything as we expected on arrival with the added bonus of cake, wine flowers and milk in the fridge. We would recommend it and would happily stay again.

Lovely cottage in a great location. Comfortable and welcoming - felt at home really quickly. Great pub 'The Beaver' with good food, entertainment nights and a Wednesday night quiz. Shop/Deli provided all we needed plus some treats - fish, cakes, wine! People really welcoming.

Fantastic location. everytjing within walking distance

Stunning place and position, couldn't fault a thing

John's deli is excellent in Appledore. The cottage is part of one of original courtyards and has a real fisherman's cottage feel to it.

Compact ex fisherman's cottage tastefully modernised with all mod cons. Super comfy beds! Ideal base for walking or exploring North Devon.

We had a very happy week at Appledore and would recommend this cottage and the area to anyone. The stairs could be difficult if you are elderly.

A delightful little cottage in every possible way. A huge, DELICIOUS cake to greet us. Would totally recommend!

Lovely position and a lovely cottage

Just overall a fantastic stay with our parents and their dog. We will be looking to book up for next year and will definitely use your sight first to view other locations many thanks

A delightful cottage in a perfect setting. The cake, flowers and wine were a very kind gesture and very much enjoyed. Appledore is a lovely quaint village to stay and we look forward to visiting again in the future.

Pretty location close to parking. Very comfortable and furnished well. Welcome cake and wine lovely on arrival.

A lovely cottage with beautiful furnishings. Comfy beds and plenty of hot water for showers, very welcome after a long day's walking! This is one of the best holiday cottages we have stayed in and extremely well situated for the South West Coast Path. We would definitely recommend it.
