There is a really comfortable living-room with a wood-burner effect electric stove to give extra warmth out-of-season.
A few hundred yards down the road you can stroll down the slipway at low tide for a sandy stretch of beach for four-legged friends and children to enjoy.
The slate floor of the kitchen/dining-room adds to the traditional feel but is also great for dogs after a walk along the beach.
Poachers Cottage is a lovely little fisherman's cottage in a traditional car free cobbled courtyard setting just yards from the sea views.
Appledore is a traditional old fishing village with a wonderful network of little lanes and passageways to explore.
The kitchen fits perfectly along the wall of the open plan kitchen/dining-room. The stairs are steep but there are handrails all the way up.
This is the view across the estuary and out to sea - just a few steps away from the cottage.
There are shops, a wonderful deli with treats to bring back to the cottage and several cafes all within easy walking distance along the Quay.
Another view of the living-room - this window looks out to the courtyard.
The dining-area looks out over the courtyard.
Poachers Cottage.
Many of the cottages along the little lane are painted in cheerful colours - there is a wonderful holiday feel here.
This is the master en suite bedroom.
Another view of the master bedroom.
This is the en suite bathroom which offers a bath as well as a fitted shower.
The twin bedroom is the first bedroom at the top of the stairs.
The cottage has a very peaceful feel. A twin bedroom and a double bedroom give the best flexibility.
The separate shower-room which is on the first floor with the bedrooms.
Colourful seaside theme decorations ensure a welcoming holiday feel to the cottage
A lovely place to stay for adults and children alike.
Across the estuary, reached by a lovely seasonal passenger ferry, is Instow, where there are wide sandy beaches at low and high tide.
North Devon's beaches are as good as any in Cornwall for surfing! Endless stretches of golden sand and rolling waves. This is Saunton Sands.
John's Deli has shops and cafes in both Appledore and Instow. There are also some excellent pubs and little galleries to browse in.
This is a great destination for keen sailors - but it is just as fascinating to sit on the Quay and watch.

Really think you should review the description of the stairs. It wasn't a massive problem for us but we have friends who would really struggle.

Thanks so much for your review. As a traditional Fisherman's Cottage Poachers Cottage does contain many of the typical original period features such as steep cottage stairs as mentioned in the description but we're pleased it wasn't too much of an issue for you. Bryony, Customer Services
