Lovely cottage, had all the amenities needed and more, really comfortable beds and so clean and tidy. The weather was a bit miserable so couldn't make full use of the garden, meadow and woodland so will try and come back another year.

Fig tree cottage was very spacious, the walled garden was delightful & a real sun trap.
MRS ALEXANDER May 2023
Fig tree cottage is a lovely place to stay, the peace and quiet of the countryside but only a short drive to the coast. This is the second visit for us, and we enjoyed our stay just relaxing and not doing a lot.
Mrs Castle April 2023
Fig Tree Cottage is a perfect peaceful rural retreat ideal as a getaway after a days hustle and bustle on the beach or Exmoor. It’s close and convenient to town, Instow and beaches but the private garden gives you space to relax and unwind. The birdsong in the mornings was amazing.
Mr Stubbs March 2023
An excellent property with all that is needed for a comfortable self catered holiday, the owner was friendly and helpful. The holiday was away from it all so some Devon lease to encounter but only 10 min utes from Barnstaple with all the necessary facilities. This is the sort of place we would return to.
Mrs Gossan September 2022
Fig Tree cottage is a beautiful place to stay. It is very well equipped and immaculately clean. It has a beautiful enclosed private garden as well as access to woodlands and open lawned area. The location is ideal for exploring the area as it is rural but only 10 mins to the estuary at Instow and 20 mins to the coast. We would highly recommend this cottage to anyone who wants a holiday in a fantastic, peaceful location.
Mr Foster September 2022
Very well equipped and comfortable, ideal for a relaxing stay.

Fig Tree Cottage is a perfect place for families and couples alike. If you want peace and quiet in a beautiful setting then you’ll love this cottage. The garden, woodland and open space around the cottage make it extra special. Towns, villages and places of interest are all within easy reach by car.

Brilliant holiday cottage, one of the best we've stayed in.
Ms Priestman June 2022
A lovely cottage in tranquil position just off a quiet, country lane. It was exactly what "it said on the "tin" with 2 large bedrooms, a bathroom and a shower room providing plenty of space for 4 people. The spacious garden was completely enclosed, sheltered and private. A great base for a holiday.
Mr Hayward May 2022
Cosy comfy beds. Excellent facilities. Light bright and clean.

Mrs Elvish April 2022
We really enjoyed the peace and quiet of the location, and the walled garden was beautiful and completely private. Staying at such a well equipped cottage with everything we could need, bar food and personal toiletries, was a real treat, and we did feel spoilt. We would very happily return.
Mrs Curwood March 2022
We had a very warm welcome by Ken, the owner, who was happy to help in any way needed. The cottage was excellent and very well equipped. We have no hesitation in recommending this cottage to anyone who wants to be deep in the Devon countryside and very quiet, other than birdsong and the occasional pheasant! Clear nights meant star gazing was a delight too.

A peaceful, cosy and well equipped holiday bolthole. Away from busy roads, near to Bideford with independent shops and craft shops. Fabulous area for gardens, especially Arlington Court with its formal and parkland garden, Knighthayes with walled garden. Had breakfast outside most days, ideal patio area for drinking coffee and reading. Beautiful bed linen, lovely shower. Everything you need for a relaxing break.

Mrs Viant October 2020
We loved Fig Tree Cottage, it was a beautiful, very comfortable and well equipped, clean cottage. From the lounge we could see into the walled garden and were delighted to have pheasants and squirrels visiting us. We enjoyed the peace and quiet. The only person we saw all week was Ken, the friendly owner, who came over just to check that everything was ok. The cottage was remote and peaceful but not too far from Bideford or Barnstaple. A good location to explore North Devon and Exmoor. Despite the weather we all had a most enjoyable holiday and would not hesitate to book again.

Mr Jansen September 2020
Fig Tree Cottage is comfortable and well equipped and is in a wonderfully quiet location yet with easy access to nearby towns and the Devon coast. There are two outside seating areas so it was possible to have both breakfast and dinner sitting out in the sunshine. The owner was very welcoming and was on hand in case of any problems. We enjoyed our stay very much and would book the cottage again if we were to return to the area.

Mr England September 2020
Would recommend this cottage highly. Very comfortable, clean and homely. Amazing views when walking through owner's wood. Lovely to have this and the meadow all to ourselves. Beautiful garden to sit in too with table and chairs, plus seating further up the garden. Was thrilled to see a fox one day on our return to the cottage frolicking in the meadow. Let ourselves in then the owner came the next day to ask if everything was okay and to introduce himself. Very quiet and beautiful surroundings.
Dr Waddington August 2020
Lovely property, easy to book and lots of information on the website. Host popped round to say hello and dropped off oven gloves that were missing. Even in different times we felt comfortable and relaxed in the property and had a lovely much needed break.
Mr Amesbury August 2020
Fig Tree cottage was a really beautiful place with the most amazing walled garden and grounds. It was so lovely to have so much space to enjoy and so peaceful too. Our children loved playing on the rope swing and exploring the woodland and even saw a deer! The cottage was cosy, comfortable and well equipped. It was a great location for visiting nearby attractions....RHS Rosewood Gardens, Broomhill Sculpture Gardens, Westward Ho! beach, the Tarka Trail, Milky Way Adventure Park were top of our list. We would definitely recommend this accommodation - we were so pleased we discovered it!
Mrs Mead October 2019
Lovely, well equipped cottage in a tranquil rural location. Very comfortable and clean. Pretty garden and spacious surrounding grounds.
Miss Stewart October 2019
The property is a brilliant location and accommodating for a self catering situation.
We found the bed and pillows ( double bed ) uncomfortable, maybe a bit worn out!
If we had any issues Ken was absolutely brilliant, and he had a nice friendly manner which nothing was too much trouble.
Classic Cottages office was also helpful in accommodating my dilemma! We have used this company for a while and I’m impressed how they treat the customers. Thank you for our wedding congratulations card, that was a lovely touch.

For a second time we received a very warm welcome at this lovely property set in a peaceful walled garden. The house was spotless, comfortable and spacious and conveniently located, set in a very large parkland area we would roam in. We never normally go back to the same place but we couldn't resist returning to Fig Tree Cottage which more than lived up to our high expectations. New features made it even better than last time and the Owner is so very kind and helpful.

We spent a wonderful week at Fig Tree Cottage over Easter. Owner kindly provided a bike store and provided plenty of information about the local area/restaurants to help plan your stay. The spacious and pleasant bedrooms have lots of wardrobe and drawer space. The very pleasant owner was extremely helpful without being intrusive. Mr Watt August 2015
A cosy, well equipped cottage in a great location with a lovely garden and meadow.
Mr Balogh July 2015
The cottage is every bit as lovely as the photos show. It is well decorated and furnished, with a well laid out and equipped kitchen, comfortable living room and spacious bedrooms (not to forget both bath and shower room). The owner was discreet, but attentive when we had cause to speak to him - nothing too much trouble. The land around of meadow and planted woodland was fun to explore for the children, and the walled garden a pleasant setting for the several barbecues we had during our stay. And apart from a tiny handful of passing cars and some grazing cows there was total silence, making possible the deepest of sleep. The owner even provided space in one of his out-houses for the four bicycles we brought with us.
Mr Dickinson July 2015
We were highly impressed with the professional service of the company and the high quality of Fig Tree Cottage. A lovely property that met all our advance expectations. We couldn't have wished for more- a peaceful location yet close enough to superb coastlines at Hartland, Baggy Point and Mortehoe. The walking was superb and the beaches fabulous. Loved the woodland attached to the cottage. Plentiful maps and guides if you didn't bring your own. We were made most welcome by the owner who visited at both ends of our stay
Loved Devon- a haven away from the M5!
Miss Warner February 2015
Very cosy and peaceful cottage. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would go back again.
Mr Barnes September 2014
A lovely property in a beautifully quiet location the owner was very friendly although we didn't see him all week you would not be afraid to ask him if you needed anything.
The property is actually nicer than the pictures show - may be it's the atmosphere in the cottage which is homely. Everything was beautifully clean and well maintained.
Mr Ford July 2014
This cottage is superb. Home from home with everything you need for a self catering holiday . Beautifully maintained, wonderful outdoor area for both adults and children and great welcome from the lovely owner. We appreciated the high quality of the cottage and the furnishings. A wonderful place to escape to. The walled garden was beautiful and the owners woodland was fun to explore.
Mr Coghlan April 2013
This is a lovely part of Devon with lots to see and do, for all ages.
Good walking from Appledore to Westward Ho!
Docton Mill is also a lovely spot to visit with very pretty gardens and a good cafe for cream teas!
Also, for the keen gardener Rosemoor is nearby, and well worth a visit.
