I assume named after the mature fig tree, where fig leaves dance happily in the breeze by the side of the cottage. Fig Tree Cottage is a delightful retreat that offers peace and privacy. The walled garden, with its blooming fragrant magnolia tree, is a sight to behold. The five-acre woodland paths invite exploration, and the central location is perfect for those looking to adventure elsewhere through the charming winding Devon lanes (beware of oncoming local drivers who know the lanes better than you). Beautiful beaches and gardens await you and are only a few miles away. Barnstaple caters for all your shopping needs. As expected, roads can get a bit congested in and around the town, but away from all that, it’s totally back to quiet Devon. The interior of the cottage is very clean, well-equipped, and comfortable, making it a true haven for travellers. Ken, the host. is extremely welcoming and respectful, ensuring a pleasant stay. I was thoroughly impressed with this property and would love to return soon....

Mr Hendey June 2025
Comfortable bedrooms and well appointed kitchen and two bathrooms one with shower one with a bath. Beautiful garden to sit in and surrounding area. Lots of sheep around. The local Devon lanes are narrow and have many potholes. You may meet the local 4X4's and farm vehicles, so proceed with caution ! Recommend the Farm Shop and John's at Instow for an expensive delicatessen . ...

This is a gem of a cottage. It is well-equipped and has a peaceful, attractive garden in larger grounds. Near to a farm shop, scenic beaches and the Tarka Trail. Highly recommended!

Fig Tree Cottage is very comfortable, clean and well equipped. Bathrooms in particular are excellent with a good shower. Being nestled deep within the Devon countryside the cottage is wonderfully tranquil with a secluded walled garden and sun trap seating areas. There is also access to woodland with its "secret places" to be explored. We braved the narrow lanes to visit several splendid beaches and gardens so made good use of the on-site EV charger (type 2 tethered with payment via VoltShare app). The owner, Ken, was very helpful but without being obtrusive. We had a wonderful stay!...
