Nestled at the foot of Dolfan Hill, Juniper is an olive-green converted railway wagon offering the ultimate Welsh countryside escape. Lovingly restored from an early 1900s wagon, this secluded hideaway blends wilderness, comfort and thoughtful design -created for those looking to slow down, reconnect with nature and step away from everyday distractions.

Tucked away in a private corner of a meadow with panoramic countryside views, Juniper has been carefully designed to make the most of its cosy space. Inside, the calming interiors have been thoughtfully curated with comfort and wellbeing in mind. The bespoke double bed features a charming picture window - perfect for slow mornings spent watching wildlife from under the covers. The compact kitchenette is cleverly designed, complete with an induction hob, fridge/freezer, sink and air fryer, though evenings are best spent cooking al fresco over the fire-pit.

The en suite shoer-room includes a shower, storage space and soft waffle dressing gowns for added comfort. Cosy evenings can be spent indoors playing board games, while clear, open skies make stargazing an essential part of any stay.

Outside is where Juniper truly comes into its own. Sink into an Adirondack lounger, gather around the fire-pit for wild cooking, or soak in the beautifully restored Edwardian outdoor bath beneath the stars - an unforgettable way to unwind after a day exploring.

Set on a working farm, guests are welcome to wander and experience the surrounding landscape, where farm animals share space with ancient woodland, wildflower meadows and abundant wildlife. Juniper also overlooks the beginnings of the farm’s rewilding project, home to ground-nesting birds, butterflies, bees and rare wildflowers, creating a peaceful haven rich in nature.

Further afield, the charming market town of Rhayader awaits. Often referred to as the gateway to the Elan Valley and believed to be the oldest town in Mid Wales, it offers a wonderful blend of history, spectacular scenery and local character. Explore the breathtaking Victorian dams and reservoirs of the Elan Valley, enjoy scenic walks and cycling routes, or simply spend an afternoon discovering Rhayader's welcoming cafés, pubs and independent shops.

A visit to the Red Kite Feeding Centre at Gigrin Farm is not to be missed. Witness hundreds of red kites gathering overhead in a truly unforgettable display, widely regarded as one of the best wildlife spectacles in the UK. It's an exceptional opportunity to see these magnificent birds up close and capture some incredible photographs.

Just 30 minutes away, the famous town of Hay-on-Wye is a delight to explore. Known around the world for its renowned literary festival, this unique destination has earned its reputation as the "Town of Books". Wander its maze of independent bookshops, browse eclectic boutiques and galleries, and enjoy a leisurely lunch in one of its many charming cafes. Whether you're a dedicated book lover or simply enjoy discovering characterful places, Hay-on-Wye makes for a wonderful day out.

There is one other hideaway onsite should you wish to book a group getaway:Seren (6134). Both wagons are positioned in a way that you have complete privacy.
