We had a thoroughly good time in this lovely property: it’s beautifully done, very comfortable, spotlessly clean and very well equipped for any meals in. The conservatory is wonderfully light with relaxing sofas and great views of the surrounding countryside. It feels very private while you are there but the location means it is a quick and easy drive to St Ives and further afield.Recommend The Gannet in Carbis Bay for Sunday lunch and the much smaller Tinners Arms in Zennor for food and drink too. ...

As mentioned in other reviews the Reservoir Cottage certainly has the WOW factor. All is to a very high standard, it feels homely and comfortable. The surrounding area, including “The Hill” and reservoir give it an idyllic feeling. Sunday lunch in the pub is a must!!! We have been holidaying in Cornwall since 2016 (we live in Holland) and this is by far the best accommodation we’ve had the privilege to stay in. We would certainly recommend the Reservoir Cottage to anybody thinking of staying in the St. Ives. The Blance Family. ...

Miss Mansell May 2025

The positives about Reservoir Cottage are the beautiful views and the birds singing all day long. The sunsets are absolutely extraordinary. The walks around the area are amazing, there is lots to explore. Access to the cottage is easy and there is adequate parking. The garden is pretty, there are areas to sit outside and enjoy the view. There are many other areas further afield to explore. Certainly recommend Porthmeor beach at St Ives. It is pure bliss. We went out every day to different places and were very blessed with beautiful weather. The reservoir is lovely to walk around, right on the doorstep. Lots of swallows. The not positives about Reservoir Cottage are several and one is the actual reservoir. It is a public place, not private. This means that people pay to fish there and stay overnight. So you don’t receive the solitude you may expect and they may walk past the house and stare in. Some may make a noise too at the reservoir. The sunroom; this room has no windows that open. The only ventilation is if you open the doors. This might work if you are a couple staying. This may not work if you have kids or a dog to keep an eye on as the balcony (and the garden) are not enclosed. And in the height of Summer, I doubt even the doors open would provide sufficient air, it will be too hot in there. It reached 28 degrees when we were there in that room and we could not be in it. It is like a greenhouse. There are no blinds either, so if you wish to watch something on the TV, you simply can’t, until the sun goes down. From our point of view, it is the best and worst room of the house. By contrast, the snug is much cooler but if you still get too hot, a further problem is that the windows have been bolted shut (for security reasons?) The windows are bolted shut in the dining area too. The kitchen is very small. The kettle is difficult to operate without burning yourself (if you have just boiled it). The toaster should come with a Phd qualification attached. And as it is meant to be self catering, there is nowhere to store any food you may have bought. You have to just put it on the counters. There are no cupboards for it or a pantry. The bedrooms are small. This cottage is not big enough (in our view) to accommodate two couples and kids. Partly due to what has already been said in this review but also the bathrooms. The large bathroom downstairs is great, until you try and use the shower cubicle. If you are tall or if you are a larger person, you will crash around, banging the sides and may not even fit in there. I am a very small person and struggled to use it. The bathroom upstairs is tiny. So much so you can’t use the toilet easily and if you do use the shower in there, you can’t dry yourself in the bathroom, as there isn’t enough room to do so. There is a beautiful black pheasant that lives on cottage grounds that makes itself known to you every morning. ...

Thanks so much for sharing your review; we're pleased to hear that there were many aspects of your stay at Reservoir Cottage which you enjoyed, particularly those amazing sunsets! It sounds as if you were very fortunate with the weather and had some wonderful days out exploring. Whilst the reservoir is popular for fishing, the private lane leading to the reservoir is set at the bottom of the lawned gardens, well away from the cottage. It is ordinarily very quiet, and offers a peaceful area to enjoy the uninterrupted countryside views . The sun room is a stunning room in which to relax and enjoy the breath-taking views, and whilst we will agree it can often get warm during the day in hot spells, the doors open to give ventilation and access to the beautiful wraparound slate deck. Whilst the lawned gardens which encircle the cottage are not enclosed, there is a rear courtyard which dogs are welcome to use as a safe enclosed space. There is a large larder cupboard in the hallway which provides ample storage for all your essentials; we're sorry if you missed this. The bathroom downstairs does have a standard sized shower cubicle and the upstairs shower room, albeit compact, is ideal for those not wishing to use the downstairs bathroom after bedtime. Reservoir Cottage has welcomed many multi family stays over the years, and the owners take great pride in ensuring that their guests have an enjoyable and memorable experience at the cottage. It's a shame that the layout of the cottage didn't quite work for your party and we were pleased to have been in touch during your stay to help assist as best we could. Julie, Customer Support ...

Miss Acheson July 2024

Well, what can I say about Reservoir Cottage?? - I will start with just WOW!! This place is honestly the most picturesque and beautifully decorated cottage that we have probably ever stayed in. So tastefully done and with so much attention to detail. For me though, it is really ALL about that conservatory and the 'stunning' terrace which it leads out on to!! Breathtaking. You could almost be in Hawaii?? Surrounded by all of that lush, subtropical greenery! And the air all around you smells like fresh garden flowers and wet grass. It's like a tonic for your soul, standing in that garden. We saw some stunning sunsets aswell. So to conclude my review, I would most highly recommend Reservoir Cottage! The pictures on the website are lovely, but nothing compares to seeing that conservatory and terrace in real life. Everything in the house was so spotlessly clean aswell! They obviously have an excellent cleaner. We cannot wait to book up again for next summer! We have had the most wonderful holiday xx...
