Boscastle / Sleeps 3 (no children under 6)

7 Nights from £345 - £750

If you want a cottage quietly situated in Boscastle but within two hundred yards of local pubs, restaurants and shops, with the latest communications technology, then The Shippen is ideal for you. From the patio and terraced garden, twenty feet up and set well back from the harbour road, panoramic views can be enjoyed – of the harbour to the left, sweeping across the Valency ravine to the village, and Valency Valley with its Thomas Hardy connections, to the right – a splendid spot to enjoy breakfast and watch the world go by below. The Shippen is a mid-terraced cottage which is accessed up steep exterior steps and through the all-weather storm porch, which keeps the worst of the winter storms at bay.

Up-to-date communications are available, including a Hitachi Smart TV with Humax recorder, free telephone calls anywhere in the UK and full WiFi internet. The open plan living-room has a beamed ceiling and open-tread, narrow stairs lead up to the bedrooms, both with sloping ceilings and low beams. Several beaches are within driving distance, and there are wonderful clifftop walks from the cottage.
