Bunk-bedsWelcoming you to Mount Folly Farmhouse, a fabulous retreat which enjoys both coast and country. On entering Mount Folly Farmhouse you will feel immediately at home, this spacious yet cosy cottage is surrounded by magnificent scenery with views out to sea which are simply unrivalled. Not only can you enjoy this magical location from the grounds and house, but the bubbling hot tub also makes for the perfect spot to soak up the scenery from.
Perched overlooking Bigbury-on-Sea and Bantham beach, a day on the sand, paddling in the sea and building endless sandcastles has never been so appealing, especially as this experience is right on your doorstep.
Once back in the grounds of Mount Folly Farmhouse, you have a superb, elevated grass sitting-area, perfect for enjoying the sights, sounds and sun from your own garden, all followed by a dip in the hot tub, ending the day on the perfect relaxed note.
Retiring to this super house following an action-packed day is a real treat. The large open plan kitchen/dining and sitting areas make for a great communal space to all help whip up a feast, then all enjoy the fruits of your labour at the large dining-table, before cosying up in the sitting-area which is equipped with a fabulous wood-burner for those cooler evenings. When it comes to bedtime, three light, airy and welcoming bedrooms await, bedrooms one and three are treated with the most stunning sea views, gazing over the beach and out to sea is no better way to start the day.
Mount Folly Farmhouse sits just across the way from Mount Folly Farm, which is a wonderful working farm, boasting livestock from sheep to hens and beef, growing vegetables which are supplied locally, and the creation of their own ice-cream which you can purchase on site, what a treat!
The friendly owners of the farm and cottages live on site and are on hand to help make your holiday the most special experience possible in this magical spot. If you have friends or family who simply can't miss out on this special holiday experience Mount Folly Penthouse (6019) is also available and boasts all the above and more.
A getaway at Mount Folly Farmhouse will leave you feeling spoilt, relaxed and eager to return.
Glorious south Devon is a magical place for a holiday, with many stunning beaches just a hop, skip and a jump away. Take the sea-tractor ferry service at high tide to Burgh Island, a fabulous adventure for all the family and the perfect excuse for a cream tea, a spot of lunch or just a light refreshment in the sun. Or perhaps Burgh Island is the perfect romantic venue for that special occasion, a warm welcome awaits whatever the occasion.
If relaxing and unwinding in the sun is all you seek, Bigbury-on-Sea beach is the perfect spot for you which is approximately 650 yards downhill from your doorstep, however please remember what goes down must come up, therefore it is suggested that anyone not wishing to walk back up the hill takes advantage of the car park readily available at the bottom of the hill, in front of the beach.
Watersports lovers should head for Bigbury-on-Sea where kayakers and windsurfers will enjoy the crystal-clear waters of the bay. Or perhaps someone in the group has a burning desire to learn to hand-surf; if so, help is at hand - only a short distance away is a very friendly and professional surf school, who are equipped to teach at all levels.
There really is endless fun to be had in this very sought-after location. Perhaps a stroll along this staggering coastline is on your 'to do' list, if so - great choice! As you meander around these stunning coastal routes, please ensure the camera is close to hand as the views will be worth a snap or two!
If there are golfers in the party, try Bigbury Golf Club (see their website for visitor fees). Enjoying a round of golf in such special surroundings will never be forgotten.
Explore further afield and visit the neighbouring towns of Kingsbridge and Salcombe, the latter is renowned as a sailing paradise and lovely to explore. Dartmouth on the banks of the River Dart is as pretty as a picture, steeped in maritime history and a great place to visit for seafood restaurants and all are in easy reach by car. These exceptionally popular towns and villages all hold so much individual charm and character, making them a great day out for all the family.
