DoubleCome and live the coastal life at The Rigging, our most charming, white-washed cottage set in the idyllic harbourside village of Polperro. With bags of original features paired with modern day comforts, The Rigging is a haven for relaxation and a wonderful base to discover all the delights that this part of Cornwall has to offer.
Lovingly presented, the owners have created a home-from-home experience, where a warm welcome awaits. Pull into your parking area, a real bonus for Polperro, and step inside to discover your holiday haven. Set over three floors, The Rigging is deceptively spacious and surprisingly light for a traditional Cornish Cottage.
The cottage sitting-room is a calm space, accented in gentle shades to perfectly complement the setting and the kitchen/dining-room will be the place to gather for everything from holiday breakfasts, mid-morning snacks and leisurely suppers. On warmer days enjoy your meals on the sunny terrace at the front of the cottage, perhaps popping over to the historic Crumplehorn Inn for a sneaky aperitif or a glass of traditional ale. As it's only the shortest of walks away, it would be a shame not to enjoy their hospitality.
On the first floor you'll find the first of the three beautiful bedrooms, with its own en suite shower-room, along with the family bathroom. A wonderful room with a separate shower for a morning 'rise and shine' rinse and a glorious free-standing bath for a lazy holiday soak.
Heading up to the second floor you'll find the pretty double bedroom and twin room. Set under the eaves, with exposed beams and deep window seats, they are full of charm and everything you would expect from a cottage bedroom.
Polperro is a stunning destination for a holiday. Set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it's an artist's utopia nestled in a harbourside valley with colour washed cottages lining the narrow winding streets down to the beautiful, sheltered harbour. There are numerous shops and galleries, as well as pubs, restaurants and bakeries along the route from The Rigging down to the heart of the village, offering something for every occasion from a celebratory meal to a hearty Cornish pasty.
Polperro will delight ramblers, located on the coastal footpath you can stride off along the headland passing through Talland Bay towards Looe in the east and the sailing town of Fowey in the west. Don't fancy the walk, then join a boat trip from the harbour or maybe a fishing trip, to grab yourself the freshest of catches to serve up for your supper.
With so much to do on foot, you could ditch the car for the week and even if you wanted to go a little further afield you could hop on one of the local buses, which stops across the road.
The neighbouring fishing town of Looe is a traditional seaside resort with a popular beach for safe and shallow swimming and the setting for TV's 'Beyond Paradise'.
In the ancient town of Lostwithiel, you can browse the antiques shops and conquer the remains of Restormel Castle, and may we recommend you view this whilst enjoying one of the many delights served up at The Duchy of Cornwall Nursery tea room…it's a delight.
The country estate of Lanhydrock (National Trust) will delight historian and garden enthusiasts alike and even those who want some adventure on two wheels as there's a great network of trails to discover.
