St Mawes has all you need for a great holiday with beaches, a bustling harbour, an eclectic range of shops and the coast path all literally on your doorstep. Bosun's Locker is hidden away off the harbour and reached through a shared access alleyway off the main street. Climb a series of steps to a small number of quiet, cloistered dwellings and you will reach the front elevation of Bosun's Locker with a pretty Mediterranean terrace complete with garden furniture and sun parasol to shelter you from the Cornish rays.
All on one level, the interiors are cosy and welcoming. The living space has a sitting area, ideal for relaxing after a busy beach day and a separate breakfast-bar, perfect for two. The galley kitchen is small but perfectly formed and has all the equipment you'll need to cook a holiday meal. The comfy double bedroom is to the left of the living area, and the bathroom has a bath with a fitted shower overhead, so you can choose either a long soak or a refreshing shower. Bosun's Locker is a lovely bijou apartment, ideal for a couple looking for a Cornish getaway and perfectly situated close to all St Mawes has to offer.
St Mawes is a fabulous place for a holiday with all you need close at hand. Walkers will love the coast path where you can explore for miles and discover the hidden coves and stunning coastline of the Roseland. Water sports lovers can kayak and paddle board around the sheltered harbour and enjoy the crystal-clear waters of the Carrick Roads.
Foodies will be spoilt for choice when it comes to eating out, from fine dining to fish and chips out of the paper on the sea wall and everything in between. For a change of scene take the seasonal passenger ferry to the maritime town of Falmouth with a great selection of eclectic shops, cafes, restaurants and an excellent museum. There are also smaller ferries which run to more secluded spots such as Place and Flushing, these definitely should be on your 'to do' list.
You may decide to have a car-free holiday in St Mawes, but if you do decide to travel further afield head for the charming village of Portscatho with a pretty harbour and gorgeous beaches. The Hidden Hut is renowned for fresh local produce where guests dine outside sharing wooden benches, and this can be found a short walk along the coast path. If you'd rather stay in Portscatho try the excellent coffee and fresh pastries at Tatams overlooking the bay and Tavola for takeaway pizza.
Further afield the mighty biomes of the Eden Project make for an interesting day out, or perhaps visit the Lost Gardens of Heligan, derelict since WWI and renovated thirty years ago, this fascinating place should not be missed. However you plan to spend your getaway, Bosun's Locker is perfectly placed for all your Cornish adventures.
