This fabulous retreat has been lovingly built from reclaimed wood and is graced with individually designed furniture using local materials from the owner's farm. Natural wood and industrial furnishings sit happily side by side and give Tawny Owl Treehouse a unique and individual style.
Sat high above a grassy bank, this gorgeous bolthole looks over beautiful gardens and a pond with glimpses of the large sculptures which remain from the site's days as a sculpture park.
Take a step through the stable-door into the stylish open plan living space. High ceilings and large picture windows give the interior a sense of space and light. The owner has been inspired to create ecological furnishings using reclaimed materials in innovative ways. A hand-made four-poster bed takes centre stage facing the views over the trees and woodland. An individually designed sofa, dining-table, stools and bedside cabinets complete the quirky living space. You will love the upcycled kitchen units complemented by a salt-glazed sink and a vintage box fashioned as a wall cabinet. The industrial look continues in the shower-room, the sink unit has been cleverly made from old farm implements and rubs shoulders with a contemporary rain head shower.
If you are looking for something different, then look no further than the outdoor decking of Tawny Owl Treehouse which houses the outdoor shower and outdoor bathtub with a view. Start the day with an invigorating shower and end the day with a relaxing soak and a glass of something bubbly. Enjoy a spot of al fresco barbecue dining whilst watching the sun go down or spend awhile bird spotting, you may see kingfishers, buzzards, kestrels and nuthatch. If you are quiet you may see deer, squirrels, badgers and foxes pop by, there has even been an otter or two making a watery appearance. A perfect woodland wonderland.
Tawny Owl Treehouse is nestled on a pretty area of woodland next to The Wrens Nest (5157), and each retreat has plenty of privacy.
Tawny Owl Treehouse is located in a fabulous location with Cumbria and the Lake District just waiting to be explored. Designated a UNESCO listed World Heritage site, the Lake District is home to rugged fells, vast lakes and rolling hills. Its most famous residents Beatrix Potter and William Wordsworth loved this magical area just as much as the thousands of visitors do today. Nearby Carlisle is home to the Tuille House Museum and Art Gallery which houses collections of local, national and international importance. 900 year old Carlisle Castle, a mediaeval fortress which has a rich military legacy is definitely worth a visit. Explore Hadrian's Wall for a glimpse into Roman life and the best-preserved Roman fort in the UK, remember to lace up your walking boots!
The lakes have so much to see that you will be spoilt for choice. From the bustle of Windermere with is vast lake and popular cruises, to the pretty villages of Ambleside and Grasmere where you can try the famous Grasmere gingerbread and then walk it off up Scafell Pike, England's highest peak at 978 metres high.
There are so many incredible things to do in the Lake District, climbing, hill walking, and adventure sports for those of an energetic nature, to art, culture and history when you want to enjoy a more relaxed day out.
