The Baggarah in Low Row is situated in the beautiful north Pennines and is a perfect starting point for those who enjoy the outdoor life. Cumbria is an excellent county for bird watching, sightings of the Common Sandpiper and White Stork have been noted, visit RSPB Geltsdale which is a hotspot for breeding curlew, take a look at the Cumbria Bird Club website for inspiration. Walking is a dream in this area of Cumbria, try out Cartmel Fell, White Pike, Broughton Moor and Orrest Head. If you have some energy left this area features a number of interesting waterfalls including Tiberthwaite Gill, Rydal Falls, Taylor Gill Force and many more. Talkin Tarn is a 65 acre lake which is set in beautiful woodland and fields, spend a leisurely hour in a boat on the lake, have a go at kayaking or try your hand at archery. Golf and riding are also available nearby. New Mills Trout Farm is great for fishing as are the rivers (you may need a licence).

For the historians this area is packed with interest and fascination. Hadrian's Wall, which can be seen from the property, is a World Heritage Site and the most important monument built by the Romans, extending 73 miles from Wallsend to Newcastle. Birdoswald Roman Fort has the longest stretch of wall visible today. Carlisle is but a 25 minute drive and is situated on the rivers Eden, Caldew and Petteril and is full of history dating back to Roman times including a castle.

Brampton is a picturesque market town which is graced by the octagonal Moot Hall in the centre of the town, along with cobbled streets and ancient properties, many made of local red sandstone. The house in which Bonnie Prince Charlie stayed is now a shop but worth a visit.
