The sleepy west Dorset countryside awaits you at this cute bolthole for two (plus your four-legged friends). Tucked away at the end of the owners' garden, this converted barn is historic and characterful; being the place the local farmer used to make cheese. Beautifully converted, it now has all the mod-cons and comfort you could wish for.
All on one level, at one end there is an open-plan living, kitchen and dining space, with triple aspect windows that flood the room with sunshine. A cosy bedroom, complete with a super-comfy king-size bed, is a peaceful place to rest your head. To finish off the accommodation, there is a luxurious bathroom, with a wet-room style shower and fabulous roll top bath.
Outside, you have a private patio, as well as an additional raised seating area that makes the most of the countryside views. There is even a fire-pit if you fancy toasting marshmallows on a summer's evening.
Babes in arms (up to six months old) are welcome but as space is limited, you will need to bring your own carry cot or Moses basket rather than a travel cot.
The reputable, dog-friendly local pub is less than a mile away so you don't have to venture too far for an evening meal, or drinks in the garden. You'll be spoilt for choice when it comes to countryside walks, the rolling west Dorset hills will be sure to capture your imagination.
For a day trip, head to Forde Abbey, a beautiful former Cistercian monastery with exceptional gardens, only a ten-minute drive away. Your Dorset holiday is of course not complete without a trip to the fabulous Jurassic Coast. Half an hour in the car will bring you to the imposing golden cliffs of West Bay and 175 million years of history right before your eyes. Slightly further afield, heading east are the historic towns of Sherborne and Dorchester (the county town) - both have regular markets selling fantastic local produce and artisan treasures.
