Jays Cottage is a delightful friendly home-from-home situated in the 18th Century country estate of Colmer. The breathtaking locality of this cottage makes venturing out and about a real treat, especially as you have a popular and friendly pub, along with a shop, a mere 300 yards away. This wonderful location caters for absolutely everything you and your party will need. You can literally park the car and throw away the keys.
Boasting two swimming pools (one indoor and one outdoor), stunning tennis courts, and a glorious fishing lake set in 28 acres of fields and woods, Jays Cottage is not just an attractive holiday home, it’s a holiday destination in its own right.
The stylish conversion of the estate to 20 privately owned quality cottages evokes a lovely sense of 'holiday' in the air. Equipped to a high standard, this cosy beamed cottage has a wood-burner effect electric stove to cuddle up in front of after a long day of fun, or if the sun is still shining, why not dine al fresco on the sun-trap patio.
This perfect venue not only offers endless on site entertainment surrounded by peace and tranquility, but you are 20 minutes from Dartmoor, 15 minutes from some of south Devon’s favourite sandy beaches, and should you wish to sample some of the South Hams’ favourite gems, Salcombe, Dartmouth, Kingsbridge, Brixham and Modbury are only a short car drive away.
The Colmer Estate and surrounding areas are really special and promise to offer you a fabulous holiday whatever your needs. On site activity and a range of beauty spots are peppered around the grounds. With a delightful walled garden with play equipment, football, basketball, table-tennis and boules on hand, there really is something for everyone!
There’s even a gym for the fitness conscious members of the party. Perhaps a charming summer stroll around the grounds is more your cup of tea, if so please ensure that you stop to enjoy the water garden with boardwalk, simply stunning when in full bloom.
For the keen angler of the group, the beautiful lake is literally a hop, skip and a jump from the cottage (a fishing licence will be required). Why not bring your rods and test your skills against the numerous species of freshwater fish? Whilst you slip off for a spot of fishing, the younger members of the party may fancy a swim or perhaps something more energetic such as a set or two of tennis (please bring your own tennis equipment, as this is not supplied on site).
This beautiful estate and the surrounding local area is a fabulous place to stay to enjoy one of Devon’s Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Wherever your day takes you, a trip to the neighbouring villages, a wander to the local pub or a day out on sunny Dartmoor, you will not be disappointed; in fact you will fall in love with this stunning spot and everything it has to offer.
