Should you seek something a little more adventurous, there are a range of excellent water sports available nearby, along with numerous cycle trails at your disposable; what a great way to stay in shape on holiday! (Please feel welcome to bring your bikes as storage space is available). For a more relaxing day out, within a short car drive, you have the Dawlish Warren golf club. Situated on the spit of land in the mouth of the Exe estuary, the course provides a challenge to golfers of all abilities. It has 18 of the finest greens in the south west and breathtaking views to make your day memorable. For any bird and nature lovers, Dawlish Warren National Nature Reserve is a very special place indeed. This hive of activity is an area of grassland, sand dunes, mudflats and information centres, and is one of the most important places for wildfowl and wading birds in the whole of the south west. Thousands of birds come to feed on migration, or to spend the winter here. The dunes and grassland have a host of special plants, with over 600 different types of flowering plants being recorded on the warren. This varied reserve has many different habitats including salt marshes, fresh water ponds, wet meadows and woodland.
