Set in the peaceful hamlet of St Minver yet only two miles from the thrills and delights of trendy Rock and Polzeath, Church Lane Cottage is a little beauty! Wonderfully welcoming and lovingly presented with the utmost care and attention, this Grade II Listed, 16th Century cottage oozes charm and character by the bucketful with wooden shutters, flagstone floors, vaulted ceilings, twisting stairs, exposed beams and stylish bathrooms.

Step outside to a little oasis of calm, the ideal spot to while away a sunny afternoon with a good book or enjoy meals on balmy evenings. Perfect as a romantic escape for two, a family retreat for four or the dog’s favourite getaway, this is one holiday cottage not to be missed.

Staying in the oldest cottage in the village brings with it a sense of history and nostalgia but most importantly now, a very charming and comfortable 21st Century home. On the ground floor, which has toasty under-floor heating throughout, the spacious hallway provides ample space for your vital holiday gear and leading off it, a stylish bath and shower-room, ideal for rinsing off after fun days on the beach (please note the bath is 1200mm long). Steps lead down to the light and airy kitchen/dining-room complete with marble floors, range cooker, hand-made cupboards and a terrific dining-table which will delight all chess masters with its inlaid chess board – what fun!

The characterful sitting-room has plenty of comfy seating for everyone to chill out and unwind. Access to the original stairs is through a small doorway, so please mind your head, and the stairs are steep and twisting and therefore may not be suitable for the less able. Once upstairs, you are greeted by two wonderful bedrooms with vaulted ceilings, gorgeous bedsteads and exposed beams. The double bedroom also benefits from a super en suite shower-room.

Outside, the magic continues with a delightful little garden, set up with all your holiday needs in mind – a large dining-table ideal for al fresco dining, an undercover barbecue, outdoor hot and cold shower (not operational during the winter months) perfect to rinse off wetsuits and sandy bodies, and a quiet area to sit out and enjoy the peace (please take care with young children on the steps).

As if this cottage wasn’t enough, this is a terrific base for enjoying this special part of north Cornwall. The coastline is strewn with great beaches with family and dog friendly Daymer Bay and the surfers’ favourite Polzeath right on your doorstep. At Rock you can try your hand at sailing, windsurfing and water skiing, meander around the shops and stock up on some provisions or take the foot ferry across the estuary to Padstow, which surely needs no introduction. The Camel Trail invites you to hop on a bike and enjoy the cycle along the river estuary, and after all that exercise why not head back to the local village pub for a traditional pub meal – well you’ve only got a two minute walk home afterwards!
