Tucked down a country lane between the little county city of Truro and the sailing mecca of Falmouth, Jasmine is a lovely oak-built shepherd's hut from the renowned Somerset-based Blackdown Shepherd Huts. With a deluxe double bed, a small dining-area and a beautifully designed, hand-made kitchen, this idyllic retreat ticks all the right boxes. The small sink has a view of the orchard, there's a two-ring halogen hob, microwave, a fridge with ice-box (for those oh-so-important ice cubes!) and all of the essential equipment for simple holiday meals.
Right beside the hut is its very own shower-cabin; modern, meticulously clean and spacious. There is a double shower cubicle, WC, wash-basin, a wall-mounted heater and all the towels you will need for your stay - bath mat, bath towels, hand towels and flannels (separate towels are also provided for using in the swimming pool).
Jasmine is nestled within the grounds of The Emerald, an award-winning zero carbon eco development, set in five acres of grounds sheltered by trees and hedging (so plenty of birdsong and the occasional glimpse of deer and squirrels). There is a useful Tesla charging point for electric cars at The Emerald (please bring your own adaptor for other makes). The owners politely ask that you state on arrival if you plan to take advantage of this service and to pay them via cash or bank transfer before departure. There is 24 hour access to the big indoor heated swimming pool (shared with the five hi-spec, super-insulated on-site cedar-clad holiday houses - Coast, Drift, Cedar, Fern and The Gatehouse, a more traditional holiday cottage), with a gym and tennis court for active types and an ornamental lake to wander around for those wishing to just chill out and relax.
Located within the orchard, Jasmine's nearest neighbour is the second shepherd's hut, Juniper, but both have their own private outdoor areas and do not overlook each other. There is space for sitting-out and you even have your own barbecue if you get the urge to sizzle some locally sourced meat or fresh-from-the-sea fish.
Jasmine is in a perfect position to explore all of the delights which Cornwall has to offer. Truro is a great city to visit anytime of the year. Summer is full of festivals and craft fayres or, if you're feeling slightly energetic, join one of the organised walks which take you all around this beautiful place. Winter sees markets and lots of sparkly lights to admire, or you may just want to snuggle in a local cafe with a steaming mug of hot chocolate before returning back to your cosy retreat.
Hopping on the King Harry Ferry over to the Roseland is a fun trip to make or why not hire bicycles and ride from Wadebridge to Padstow - of course making sure that you stop for a cream tea along the way! A short drive away you'll discover St Agnes, a vibrant and very colourful coastal village with a fantastic butcher, local craft shops brimming with temptation and lots of delicious bistros and cafes. Jasmine is a super retreat on a gorgeous Estate and truly offers the perfect getaway all year round.
