We had a lovely few days at Abelwood Lodge. The property is gorgeous, with everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. The directions aren't brilliant, especially as the sign for Marshall Farm is overgrown and obscured at this time of year. Perhaps mention the cattle grid as well? The lake and garden were a disappointment, as there was nowhere to sit out by the lake ,and it can barely be seen from the patio seating. Families with children will have to be vigilant about letting them play in the garden as the lake is out of sight due to the layout ,and scrub. We visited RHS Rosemoor ...30 mins by car, Hartland Abbey ...20mins by car, and The Farmers Arms in Woolsery , which is lovely with exceptional food and service. We would visit again, but only if the garden was usable. ...

We had a lovely time at Ablewood Lodge. There was everything you could need for a holiday and more. We loved the lake, the firepit, the inside fire, the various places to sit and relax, all the extras like games and books the owners had thought of. We went so my sister could concentrate on writing her next novel and this place was perfect. So peaceful and relaxing. The beds were very comfortable too....

Our stay at Abelwood was everything we could have hoped for and more. The location is peaceful and remote with stunning wildlife right on the doorstep. To be able to sit on the comfy sofa and birdwatch, enjoy a lovely hot bath, and then curl up with a movie on the massive TV in the evening before a good night's sleep was a complete joy. To be a short drive from such jaw-dropping, dramatic coastal scenery and then to be so snug in the lee of the North Devonshire landscape was delightful. ...

This was a gorgeous, luxurious property in an idyllic setting with so many personal and local touches. We can’t recommend it enough and we definitely want to return. What an absolutely wonderful place to spend the week!
