Churchstyle Barn was spotlessly clean and very well equipped with everything we could possibly need to make our stay extremely comfortable and stress free. On arrival, we were greeted with a batch of freshly baked scones, jam and clotted cream which were absolutely delicious. Fiona and Michael made us feel very welcome and were available should we need them, but kept a low profile and were not at all intrusive. The surroundings were very tranquil, with the occasional moo from the cows in the field next door. All in all, a fabulous place to stay with plenty of opportunity to relax and unwind. The barn is well appointed for either inland or coastal adventures. If you need any provisions, Honiton or Chard are about 15-20 mins away and both have a good size Tesco. We visited the otter sanctuary at Buckfastleigh (approx 50 mins drive) - only need a couple of hours to have a good look round. Paignton Zoo is just over an hours drive - quite a few of the animals were hiding and sometimes impossible to spot, however if you visit with the idea that you are going to have a leisurely walk round a lovely setting with some animals appearing here and there, you won't be disappointed. Could easily spend a whole day there, though be prepared as the landscape is quite hilly. Torquay Watersports is worth booking a trip with, but book early as they are popular. Lyme Regis is only 30 mins away and has some lovely shops and a fab beach. Beer is also well worth a visit, as is Sidmouth....

A lovely village location with friendly owners next door. Our 3 generation family had a great stay. we would recommend Burrow Lane gardens, Sidmouth and Lyme Regis to visit. Good food at the village pub and the Tytherleigh arms between Axminster and Chard....

A very peaceful spot for a break. Churchstyle Barn is accessed via a narrow lane so is definitely off the beaten track. It is very quiet, occasional noises from cows in fields some distance away add to the charm. We were staying as we had a family funeral nearby so it was great to have such a relaxing refuge to return to and decompress. The barn has been converted into rooms to a very high standard. The bathrooms and kitchen are well fitted out. Everything you need is provided. The outside seating area is surrounded by herbs and flower planting and caught the late summer sun. Inside there is plenty of space for family meals and relaxation. There are lots of books and board games. There is a very nice pub a short walk away - there is a footpath through the churchyard that leads to the main road through the village. The food here is restaurant quality (and priced accordingly) but the barn comes with two ovens and a stove, plus a microwave. There is under counter fridge and freezer space as well as separate upright devices in the utility room. There is a hairdryer and lots of cleaning supplies. Coffee, tea and welcome pack provided too which is good as there isn’t a nearby shop or not one we found anyway, we went to a big supermarket in Honiton. Bring boots if you want to walk the nearby footpaths through the fields, it had been raining so these were too muddy for us! Some of the ceiling heights upstairs are low, so taller people may be restricted as to which side of the bed they use, or have to remember to bend over. ...
