Extremely spacious and beautifully equipped accommodation set in pretty village, secure off-road parking, owner available if any issue were to arise. Hope to return in better weather to fully appreciate the large garden!

Merryfields is a great place to stay with loads of room to relax and enjoy yourself. The music room is excellent, the bedrooms are comfortable and spacious and the location is picturesque. The garden is great, especially for the children and the owner is so helpful. Would recommend this “cottage” to families....

The property far exceeded our expectations and was even more spacious than the photos seemed to show. We booked for a family celebration and three generations were very happy with what Merryfields offered. Plenty of space for games indoor and out plus piano, drums and small gym. The garden/field was perfect for our elderly dog to potter around in too. We all loved the large lounge windows looking out across the fields and valley and we were treated to displays by pheasants and red kites! Everyone commented on how comfortable the beds were - great mattresses and good quality linens. We would all love to go back again. ...

My wife and our 2 children stayed at Merryfields over Easter. The house is in an excellent location with truly stunning views over the box valley. It is in a quiet part of Colerne which is itself a tranquil and pretty village and about 15 mins from Bath by car. There are numerous footpaths accessible from the house for excellent walks around colerne and the surrounding countryside. The house is very large with 4 decent size rooms including 1 with en suite. It is well equipped with a gym and music room plus a very large lounge that has views over the valley. The decor and furnishings are eclectic and although mostly it is very tasteful some elements will not be to everyone’s taste - we had to take a picture down as it frightened the children! The entrance to the property courtyard is through 2 large electronic iron gates which felt a little incongruous and unnecessary in such a sleepy place and also made getting in and out a little more difficult that perhaps if needed to be. The owner, John, lives in the adjoining property and is a drummer in several bands. He showed us around the property and let our boys use his drum kit. John uses the studio in the garden for his various bands to practice in and so potential holidaymakers do need to be aware that there will people parking in the courtyard and walking through the garden, past the house on several nights of the week. The actual practice sessions were not really disruptive as there is minimal noise to be heard from the house but some people who really value their privacy may not be comfortable with this arrangement. I did explain to John that this should be made clear upfront when booking the house but he disagreed and suggested that this was to be expected in the home of a musician!...

We're delighted that Merryfields provided a wonderfully equipped and elegant property in the most beautiful location of the Box Valley. We can see that you were able to have some excellent walks in the stunning countryside surrounding the property which also has a very large garden, ideal for children to let off steam. We are pleased the very helpful owners who live next door are on hand if needed to assist with anything from removing artwork to drumming lessons. Their impressive musical career is reflected in the music room. Such a magnificent house must have plenty of attention and sometimes we imagine some guests who may feel happier with having electronic gates; this is also a useful feature for anyone with mobility concerns. We checked with the owner who explained the visitors walking across the garden were on their way to the Church Band practice, a weekly event run by the owner who was too late to warn them of the last-minute booking at Merryfields for which he would like to apologise for any intrusion. This was a one-off event, and he is usually careful about privacy and any noise disruption. We hope you had a great holiday in such a grand house with astonishing views. Sarah, Customer Support ...
