The Dolls House

We had the most wonderful time staying at The Dolls House. The cottage is beautiful inside and out, and the area is a walkers paradise. We took our rescue dog with us and the property was perfect for him due to being very quiet and isolated with no unusual or strange noises coming from other properties to worry him. The enclosed garden at the back is great and our dog enjoyed sitting out there and looking out across the valley. There is also a handy wooden screen you could us if you needed to block your dog away from the sleeping area. We didn't use it because our dog slept in his bed upstairs, but am sure it could be used for that purpose. Our favourite things about the stay were the stunning night sky (you could see the faint wisp of the milky way from the back garden on a clear night, and SO many stars), the tawny owls who are plentiful and hoot and screech each evening (you will likely also see them flying from tree to tree outside on a moonlit night as we did), and the coastal walks. We walked east to Beer along the coast path one day, then the next day we walked along the coastal path heading west and then turned off up to the donkey sanctuary (which is very dog friendly). Another beautiful walk that is well worth doing is hopping in the car down to Otterton Mill and doing the circular walk down to the Budleigh Salterton nature reserve (see the walking book in one of the drawers in the cottage, or look it up on 'AllTrails' app. The Sea Shanty Beach cafe is an absolute must and an easy walk from the Dolls House. We had a couple of amazing breakfasts there to fuel our long walks, so many menu choices and lots of veggie options. We also had fish and chips there one afternoon. All in all, a most perfect holiday and everywhere we went was really dog friendly....

Gorgeous cottage in a superb location. Lots of steps to get up to it, but absolutely worth the elevated position. Great for dogs with the enclosed and very safe garden. No freezer, but the ice machine was absolutely brilliant. Ice cubes made in about 20 minutes! Loved it here....

What a wonderful cottage. Beautiful outdoor space . Spotlessly clean .Situated in the beautiful village of Bramscombe. A fifteen minute walk to the beach in the middle of the countryside. Two pubs in the village where excellent. A hidden gem this cottage . We hope to return...

This is a truly lovely, picturesque cottage in a beautiful area of Devon. It is well equipped (apart from not having a freezer or ice box in the fridge) and very attractively furnished. Everything has been so well thought out. The views across the valley are stunning. Our two Jack Russells enjoyed pottering around the fully enclosed garden. We ate several times at the Masons Arms where the food was excellent. We had two very rainy weeks, but still managed to enjoy ourselves with visits to the Forge, the Mill, the Old Bakery Tea Rooms and the beach. Branscombe is a very pretty village and we look forward to booking The Doll's House again. ...

We loved the views and proximity of the cottage to great walks - lots of steps and slopes so you need to be sure-footed to enjoy this location- and we appreciated the dog-friendly garden. Branscombe is charming - once you have navigated the steep lanes to reach it. The cottage was a charming mix of original features and modern comforts. So peaceful and relaxing....
