Tavistock is an ancient stannary and market town, enjoy wondering around the many independent boutiques or stroll through the market.
A little further afield you will find Looe, a traditional seaside town where you can enjoy the all-important fish and chips staple!
Dartmoor and Exmoor are the perfect escape no matter the season.
Head back to Devon and the Royal William Yard where you will find a cinema, eateries and a seasonal ferry across to the Mount Edgcumbe Estate.

We had the best time. Would highly recommend if you are looking for a cozy, comfortable get away in the countryside. It is in a great location for walks! The barn itself is idylic.

Our Second visit to Buzzards Rise and it lived up to our memories and expectations. As a previous reviewer said, this is tricky, if we are honest about the how great this holiday home is, we may never get to book again!! But that said, Buzzards Rise is a credit to Vicki & Jon's attention to detail, they have built a great place and are maintaining the home well, so everything feels fresh and so comfortable. It really is a home from home for us and we were really sorry to come home...The property is extremely well equipped, everything you need to cook up a storm and sleep well. The heating and fire are excellent, so drying coats/clothes after a truly Cornish walk is not a problem! Once again we ended up here in the Winter, so didn't use the garden a great deal, but it is well fenced for even the best escapist canine and the decking is lovely for a sundowner with the beautiful new lighting and comfy seats (yes we did manage a couple of evenings outside with a glass in hand, even in November!). The location gives great access to explore Devon and Cornwall, Kit hill & Tamar Trails are great local walks, plus Tavistock is really lovely for a mooch and shopping. The pub in Chilsworthy is easily walkable to, (0.6 miles according to Strava!), very friendly and welcoming, we only managed one visit for a drink, due only to succumbing to bad colds and not wanting to spread them around! Food options there sounded good though and we will be giving it a trial next visit....hopefully not too far in the future.....Thank you for such a lovely holiday home, ATB Nicky, Terry & Darcy ...

It's a great place. The garden is fenced so the dogs can play and lie down without us bothering about their safety. The house has everything you need to have a great holiday. We will go back.
