Tavistock is an ancient stannary and market town, enjoy wondering around the many independent boutiques or stroll through the market.
A little further afield you will find Looe, a traditional seaside town where you can enjoy the all-important fish and chips staple!
Dartmoor and Exmoor are the perfect escape no matter the season.
Head back to Devon and the Royal William Yard where you will find a cinema, eateries and a seasonal ferry across to the Mount Edgcumbe Estate.

The two of us and our two dogs had the most wonderful time at Buzzards view. Our dogs are both nervous rescues and so having somewhere quiet and very well fenced was an absolute dream as it meant we could properly relax. The property is well maintained, very clean, high quality with lots of lovely touches. We enjoyed alfresco dining, cosy evenings, board games, deep baths and many quiet uninterrupted dog walks along the local lanes and footpaths. We walked to the local pub during a quiet time which has a good layout to manage nervous dogs and very understanding bar staff. There are some lovely local drives and walks nearby and a secure field only 6 minutes away. (We didn't use it but know some people struggle with walks and like to know where the nearby fields are). This was a half working/half holiday week away for us and the wifi was good which was an added bonus. We really loved our break as it ticked all our priority boxes! Highly recommend! ...

This has to be one of the best holiday properties we have stayed in and we have stayed in many. The attention to detail was fabulous. Beautifully decorated wonderfully equipped and the outside space is definitely the best we have ever come across. The owners are so friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble for them. They are always at the end of the phone if you need them, but never intrusive The weather was extremely hot while we were there and they very kindly gave us lots of information on where we could take our extremely thick coated dog which we appreciated very much indeed. On arrival, we were greeted with a beautiful bunch of flowers and a gorgeous hamper. They had very kindly left fans so that the property wasn’t too hot. It is little details like this that raise a holiday from a brilliant one to spectacular. I think the fact that we booked for next year before we even left is the best recommendation we can give. A property that ticks every box is rare but this is one of those properties! Thank you so much for a truly perfect two weeks!!! ...
