Newclose Houseboat

We had an amazing time - the boat was incredible and we will stay here again. The boat is beautiful, fully kitted out, big rooms, lots of space. Everything worked perfectly. Parking was easy, access was easy and the views were amazing. Perfect location with a short walk to shops and beach and short drive to Ryde, the ferry, Cowes etc. I highly recommend staying here - absolutely perfect in every way..! ...

The view from the living room is just gorgeous & upon entering the upstairs section, it's light filled & gives you a WOW factor. The kitchen is fully kitted out & the presence of fresh flowers, jar of chocolates, milk & a bottle of Prosecco were lovely touches. We would highly recommend Newclose Houseboat. It was very comfortable with amazing views of the changing tide, and it was a lot of fun being on a boat. Bembridge is a very good location for exploring the Isle of Wight. From the beaches to all the lovely food and even blue wine it was all just great....

A very different type of holiday . Lovely views of harbour

I am emailing you in respect to the shocking and unacceptable lack of cleanliness and hygiene of the showers, along with other areas of the Newclose Houseboat. I have attached photographs of the evidence, of which I have informed the owner. My wife and I spent 2 hours cleaning the areas to an acceptable level. We also found a pipe leak, blockage, and issues with the macerator under the kitchen sink, which would have been spotted if the cleaner had utilised any of the cleaning products, which were wet and saturated in the buckets under the sink. Photos 1 / 2 shows the hair which was clogging up the shower in the room on the first level, which was clearly visible wrapped around the plug drain. The smell was absolutely disgusting when it was removed. Photos 3/4/5 shows the dirty water which had built up in the buckets from the leak under the sink, which had saturated the cleaning products. Photo 6 shows the dirty and greasy kitchen surface trivet. Photos 7 through to 18, show the before and after the shower cleans in two of the rooms, with the cleaning clothes showing residual dirt from the trays. The owner did arrange a handy person to resolve the kitchen sink issues and did offer to send in back the cleaner on the Monday, but we had already spent time over the weekend resolving the cleanliness issues before we were happy to use the showers. It was a huge shame, as the boat was lovely, but for the price paid for our stay, this was totally unacceptable level of hygiene, as we wouldn’t have accepted this from a property at a third of the cost. We are sorry to need to report this issue, but we were shocked at what we found, as other boats that we have stayed on at Bembridge were of a much higher level of cleanliness....
