Shell Cottage

The accommodation is a quaint cosy and comfortable old cottage with a (tiny) suntrap garden full of delightful planting. It is located in an historic area of Grampound. The decor is pleasant and furnishings are comfortable. The shower is excellent in the smart shower room and it is useful having a separate toilet. The kitchen overlooks the adjacent cottage garden, which is the access to the cottage where the owners live, and this can feel intrusive. The location is excellent for visiting the grand gardens of Cornwall, coastal attractions and surrounding villages. There are walks direct from the house and would recommend the peaceful and attractive walk along the River Fal through woodland. I enjoyed staying in Shell Cottage and hope to return for a future holiday....

What an absolute gem! We had booked a different place to stay, which was unavoidably unavailable at the last minute so we were offered Shell Cottage and were delighted with the outcome. The location is excellent - about 10 mins from the A30 and perfectly placed for exploring Cornwall. The cottage itself was spotlessly clean, well-equipped and so cosy. We did a lot of driving around [Eden project, National trust and Cornwall in general] and it was the perfect place to come home to and unwind. Infact the most complicated thing about the week was working out which thing went into which bin for recycling - but there was a very detailed handbook to guide us through that. Shell Cottage is a beautiful traditional Cornish Cottage situated in a lovely village of which both are full of history. It is larger then it first looks and centrally located making it ideal for exploring a number of areas of Cornwall both North and South. We chose it partly for this reason and travelled to Falmouth & St Michaels Mount easily alongside exploring the local areas including Charlestown and Mevagissey harbour. Warm, character cottage in a central location, clean with good facilities, easy access to Truro, Heligan, Eden Project etc. Be aware the busy A390 runs through Grampound and the cottage is close to this.

We’ve just returned from a week’s holiday in Cornwall and our stay at Shell cottage. We were extremely happy with our choice of cottage, Shell cottage was the perfect home from home. Hosts were friendly and on hand should you need anything during our stay. Cottage provides everything you will need during your stay and tastefully decorated throughout. Shell cottage is a great base for exploring what Cornwall has to offer, with most eastern Cornwall villages within a 20 minute journey. Perfect for us traveling with a small baby....
