At the mouth of the river, trendy Fowey sits on one side and pretty Polruan on the other - you can take a ferry across from one to the other.
This stretch of coastline has some wonderful family-friendly beaches to discover.
The National Trust's Lanhydrock House, gardens and parkland are quite stunning and within easy access - there is also a great network of cycling trails across the park.

We were blessed with mixed but overall good weather and having 2 places to sit in the garden was lovely - very peaceful spot and a lovely house. I have been to Lerryn before with my husband and loved the walks on the doorstep but going this time with my son and his 1 year old daughter we found lots of child friendly things to do in the area - the best being Porfell wildlife and animal park which was lovely and Polkerris beach which was not too busy but some amenities. ...

We had the most wonderful week here. Lerryn is beautiful and the house is so comfortable. Tree house and swing were a big hit with the kids (as was the Xbox!). Lovely views, comfy beds. Just lovely. Small point to be aware of for anyone doing a big online food delivery, fridge/freezer is quite small so don’t over order!...

A very enjoyable Spring time vist to Lerryn and Sweet Briar Cottage. The cottage has a very nice feel to it. Comfortable beds and good showers. Lots of fabulous walks in and around Lerryn and along the costal path. If you can cope with the narrow lanes a very peaceful place to while away some time...
