Great location for walking from the front door, quiet lanes and wonderful views and great bases to use the car to go further afield. The lodge is a perfect retreat.

July 2020

We enjoyed our stay at Bashford Lodge. It was very welcoming and cosy. It was spotlessly clean with ample supplies of hand wash and hand gel and felt very Covid safe. The view is stunning and we loved sitting out on the balcony. Our hosts were very welcoming and friendly.

July 2019

Great views and lovely to watch the owners' horses return from the field to the stables and back again later on; all on their own.

May 2019

This property is first class and is in a wonderful location. It offers modern comforts in a rural setting. The owner is pleasant, helpful and informative. We cannot recommend this highly enough as a venue if you appreciate peace and quiet in a beautiful location with lots of diverse and interesting things todo.

April 2019

Superb location and a wonderful host. The cottage had everything you could need for a self-catering stay be it spring, summer or winter. The horses added a charm that you will not experience anywhere else.

February 2019

A really great place to stay and relax. Perfect for access to the beautiful Quantocks, and within easy reach of so many wonderful places in Somerset. But also just as ideal to relax in the well-equipped lodge, enjoying the fabulous views and the comfort of the cottage. Perfect for serious foodie self-catering as well as within easy reach of good gastro pubs. Set up for comfort and a little bit of luxury as well as the practicalities of an active stay in the beautiful, if sometimes wet and muddy, Somerset area - certainly a place to return to ... many times.

Lovely comfortable beds and great outside areas. Great views from the balcony and lots of walks nearby. Although we did not go for the trekking it was quite a sight to watch the horses being brought down from their field to their stables each morning.

May 2018

A lovely, comfortable and well equipped lodge in a perfect setting. Three generations of our family and we all spent a very enjoyable week here. Plenty to see and do even if you don't horse ride, although two of our party did and had a wonderful time. Very helpful and friendly owners who left a lovely home-made cake and a bottle of wine and milk in the fridge for us. Fabulous views from the balcony and it was lovely to see the horses parading down from the fields first thing in the morning to the stables. We hope to make a return visit!

March 2018

Lovely relaxing stay with wonderful views and the horses coming in and out an added bonus. We were due to arrive the day following heavy snow fall but good communication with Gill and lots of effort on her part clearing the drive and yard, allowed us to push forward a couple of days and still enjoy our break.
