reflection in the price against the offering of cottage, its over priced
Reply from Classic Cottages
We were interested in your thoughts on pricing, although we'd have to disagree. We do carefully consider each individual cottage's price for every week of the year, and we feel that The Cow Shed is very accurately priced and provides a good quality and well located holiday base. We're sorry that it wasn't quite what you were looking for. Tanya, Customer Support
Mr Guillery May 2018
This is truly a super cottage and grounds. Thank you also to the owners for warm welcome on arrival with home-made cake and local cider. Decorated tastefully throughout - everything is of high quality and in great condition. Extremely thoughtfully designed with our enjoyment, comfort and needs in mind. Very dog-friendly too with enclosed patio as well as huge field, dog treats, toys, poo bags, food and water bowls. Guests should know that the local pub, The Red Lion, is a good beer pub but, sadly, no longer serves food.

It's great to hear that you and your pooch enjoyed your stay so much and that you were made to feel welcome. What a shame to hear that the local pub no longer serves food - we'll update our description. Alison, Customer Support
Mrs Hayes May 2018
The Cow Shed is set in a lovely position, very peaceful. It is very well equipped and the beds are really comfortable. The field to the front is very well kept and is great if you are taking a dog, with lots of space to chase after a ball. We had a lovely relaxing holiday and would definitely like to visit again.
Mr Smith March 2018
Excellent property in a great location that has fantastic views. If your looking for a dog friendly property that is fantastic inside look no further.
Mr Bird March 2018
Excellent property exactly as described in the brochure. It worked perfectly for us and our dog. We expect to return.
Mrs Barber December 2017
This was the most relaxing break away. Sam and Pete are very helpful and only next door. Made to feel very welcome by the locals at the Red Lion Pub. Gorgeous place which has been furnished to a very high standard.
Mr Loveridge November 2017
Lovely and cozy excellent underfloor heating.
Mrs East September 2017
We enjoyed a wonderful weekend at the cottage, really relaxing in fabulous surroundings. Absolutely fabulous for dogs with the large field for them to run whilst you relax on the terrace. Would love to return, many thanks.

Mrs Hawkins September 2017
Everything about The Cow Shed endorses the level of thought and attention to detail that has gone into producing this beautiful accommodation. It is furnished to a very high standard and is both welcoming and relaxing. The Cow Shed is a fabulous place to unwind, in a quiet village location with walks on the doorstep as well as stunning countryside surrounding you. Would definitely recommend this slice of Devonshire heaven!
Mr Boddey September 2017
Excellent cottage, easily in the top 3 or 4 we've had from Classic and we've had a lot. Wonderful location and cottage was faultless. The only slight issue was had was sorted promptly by the owners who couldn't have been any more helpful. There was even cake and local cider waiting on our arrival, what more could you want. I've a feeling we may be returning.
Mrs Ball August 2017
Lovely property and a lovely quiet location, would stay again!
Mrs Walker July 2017
It was home from home, everything we needed for a great holiday, pity about the weather but that's the UK for you! We had a lovely time and hope to return some day, thanks Kerry and Martin from Staffordshire...
Mrs Bagley July 2017
You arrive and can immediately settle in with tea/coffee. Owner provided fresh milk, cake and even a bottle of local cider. What more can you want after travelling. Salt/pepper/washing up liquid may not seem of concern until you need them...but not an issue at the Cow Shed.
Mrs Taplin June 2017
Lovely stylish and comfortable cottage which is dog friendly in a great little village.
Mr Forgan June 2017
A well-equipped cottage, with a huge garden. It's location is very quiet, yet easily accessible and makes for an excellent gateway to many activities around Devon; walks, cycling, Dartmoor, beaches, and the family's favourite - Dragon Archery that can be found on the route out to Bude. We would be very happy to stay here again.
Mr Montgomery August 2016
This is a lovely cottage that we really felt at home in. It is decorated and furnished brilliantly and has all you need, including a very good book and music library! We recommend booking ahead for the Dragon Archery - a lot of fun 20 minutes drive away.
Mrs Dyer July 2016
A beautiful cottage in peaceful and tranquil surroundings. The local people are extremely friendly as well as Pete the Owner. A good deal of joviality was had in the local pub to make us welcome as well, when we arrived having our first meal there.
Mrs Wilson June 2016
Location is very peaceful The kitchen is well stocked with plenty of pots and pans Good size bedrooms Plenty of books and dvd's for rainy days Lovely chocolate cake and milk for a cuppa on arrival
Mrs Perks May 2016
Beautifully decorated and just as lovely as the pictures look. Fully enclosed patio area for the dogs with stones and slabs. The grassy area is huge and the weather was warm and sunny for us so nice to sit out on the deck chairs with a glass of wine in the evening. You need to have well-trained dogs in the field area as that part is not fully enclosed. The shower was amazing and powerful and the bedrooms were very large with plenty of storage space for your clothes. The beds were comfortable and it was quiet out in the country. Only a short stroll to nice pub just up the lane with very friendly staff and the pub accepts dogs inside. The furnishings looked like they were planned by an interior designer, very pretty. You didn't feel like you were just given all the left-over stuff that the owners no longer wanted like you find in some cottages. The only thing to be aware of is that the cottage is immediately behind the owner's house and you can see them in their back garden from every aspect of the back of the cottage. The owners are very friendly and we had a lovely welcome pack including homemade banana bread and even some dog treats. Perfect location for exploring Dartmoor park with some beautiful walks. Waitrose just a 7 minute drive from the cottage in Okehampton and there were some really nice walks and a pretty park in that town as well. Would definitely recommend.
Mrs Pickett March 2016
Fantastic views over breath taking countryside.
Miss Belcher February 2016

Miss Murphy December 2015

Mrs Williams December 2015
Brilliant hosts. Liked everything.
Mr Enefer September 2015
Perfect! Lovely comfortable cottage with a well equipped kitchen and beautiful views across the Devon countryside. The fully enclosed patio is perfect and the meadow beyond ideal for dog walking or playing. Superb location for exploring Devon and the village has an excellent community shop and cafe.
Mr Mearns August 2015
It's clear a lot of thought ( and love) has gone into this. Loved the accommodation the great open field for the kids and the nice quiet village location and Rosie the cat was a great hit.
Mrs Adams August 2015
It was fantastic. We absolutely can't fault it.
The beds were very comfy, and although we didn't make use of the kitchen as we were mainly eating out, it did seem very well equipped. The two bathrooms are much appreciated and the rooms are light and airy.
The large field was superb and our girls loved running around and using the hammock.
Sam & Pete had clearly given much thought to the cottage to make it welcoming and comfortable, and the appearance of Rosie the pet cat on a daily basis to welcome us home was nice although I don't think she'd been trained especially!
It's location was perfect; being in a village with an excellent community shop/cafe and a pub which serves good meals ( ideal after the long trip on arrival day)- both of which are just 2 minutes walk, as well as being well situated for days out.
Mrs Ball August 2015
Good location for exploring Devon, beautifully restored property to a very high standard in a lovely village.
Mrs Hinton July 2015
The property exceeded our expectations. It was beautiful, stylish classic and modern all at the same time. It was like a home away from home, warm and cozy. The kids loved it and so did the dog. What's not to like!
Mrs Thomas July 2015
