We had a very peaceful holiday at Moorhayes. The location is quite secluded and very quiet which was ideal for our 2 reactive dogs as the only thing for them to bark at was the odd bird. There is just one property close by, but totally hidden by trees and a good distance away due to their large garden (prob 50m away). The house is very comfortable and well laid out, but there were a few things that would have made our stay more comfortable such as regrouting/siliconing of the bathroom and en-suite and the hot tub head rests needed replacing. The hosts live on a farm around the corner. They were very helpful and responsive and we were chuffed to arrive to a welcome card, home made scones and milk when we arrived. Thank you...

If you want a peaceful location, yet within easy reach of a good road network, then this is a great property, with lovely owners. The house is much larger than the photos and description would indicate, with a great level of equipment/crockery/glasses etc in the kitchen. The garden is very large with loads of space for dogs & kids to run around, however be aware that the gate is not secure for smaller dogs, there is no wire on the wide gate bars. (we cobbled a temporary solution with a dust sheet, donated by a nearby relative, for our stay). Having said that, the lane is so quiet with very little passing traffic, an escaping canine would be very unlucky to meet any vehicles. The hot tub is a great asset, especially as it is positioned so close to the house, beautifully hot and a great way to end the day. We only used the master bedroom, but that bed was very comfy and the room is huge, with lots of hanging and drawer space. The second bedroom is also huge, with loads of storage, so no one is short changed! We love the open plan living area and the bifold opening doors are fab when the weather is good, although they were quite hard to open & close, but that could be us doing it wrong/being weak?! Our only negative comments for this holiday home is the bathrooms. They both need some brisk refurbing, definitely new grout everywhere or replace the tiles with the easy clean bathroom wall panels/shower boarding, which does away with the grout issue completely and makes the bath and shower areas so easy to clean going forwards. In addition, the shower hoses need a good clean or replacement, they too are suffering from mouldy sections and the shower door on the bath side kept leaking if you used the overhead shower. With the bathrooms sorted out, this is definitely a top notch holiday home, in a great, peaceful location....

FANTASTIC DOG-FRIENDLY COTTAGE. Moorhayes is a fantastic dog-friendly cottage in a VERY secluded location (Which is what we look for to cater for our very anxious rescue dog). It was exactly as described on the website and we couldn't fault any aspect of the cottage itself - Very well appointed, very comfortable - and very cosy. We had a great stay. We particularly liked: The hot tub and the fantastic 'dark skies' views. The overall level of furnishing and equipment. The quietness. The appreciation by the owners of the needs of our anxious dog. If we had one criticism then, for us, it was the drive to the cottage once we'd left the main road. Whichever way we tried to approach the cottage it was impossible to avoid travelling for around a mile to a mile and a half down VERY narrow (single track) lanes with poor visibility and very few useable passing places. With a medium size SUV it wasn't easy, or pleasurable, having to make the trip twice every day during our stay. This did detract a little from what, overall was a great stay in a lovely cottage....

We're delighted you loved the property and especially how dog aware the owners are, which is reflected in the cottage, so you and your four legged friend had the best possible time on holiday. It must have been wonderful to relax in the hot tub and watch the stars. We try to make the website as accurate as possible and show photos that reflect the type and style of property so we are sorry you found the surrounding lanes difficult to drive along. We would love to assist with future bookings. Sarah, Customer Support...
