Portreath is only a few minutes' drive from the cottage. Such a lovely beach.
Perranporth beach, is a little further up the coast.
Porthtowan beach is also just a short drive from Kernel's Barn.
The secure bike store is very handy if you want to bring your own bikes with you, alternatively you can hire from the centre next door.

We had fantastic weather during our stay at Kernel Cottage so visited the local beaches often, as well as outdoor theatre at the Minack and Trerice House just beyond Newquay. Both St Ives and Porthleven were easy to get to, both places we love. The cottage was very clean and airy and Colin and Sally (and their dogs Bob and Lily) made us feel very welcome. It was especially nice to sit in the large garden area. Would highly recommend a stay here! ...

What a lovely property - very comfortable and well equipped and SPOTLESS. It's in a very quiet and peaceful location with great parking for a big car. The addition of a place to store our bikes was great. Colin and Sally were very friendly and helpful - thank you for the cream tea and milk - the scones and the jam were both delicious. We loved seeing all the animals - especially the welcoming committee of the two dogs, Bob and Lilly, and the gorgeous cat Percy. Only sorry that we didn't get to see the cow and calf but we were never back from our days out at the right time to go with Colin to see them. The weather wasn't great for our visit so we didn't get to sit out in the beautiful garden unfortunately. We would have no hesitation in recommending this property and hope to visit again in the future - we have never read such an amazing set of reviews in a visitors book anywhere we have stayed....

Our second visit this year to this lovely barn conversion. The atmosphere is so peaceful and homely and the owners are extremely kind and welcoming. You won’t be disappointed.
