Hatts Barn is a lovely 'upside down' style barn conversion in a rural setting, but which is conveniently situated barely a mile from the Dorset Town of Shaftesbury. This is the beauty of this part of the country - there's barely any urban sprawl, so once you leave town, you're in the countryside. The appoach to the cottage is a bit narrow and winding, but once there, it's like being in another world. A gravel courtyard contains an outdoor seating area, and once inside, the two generous bedrooms and separate bathroom are off the hall area. Upstairs is a massive living space, with well appointed kitchen at one end, dining area in the middle, and comfortable sofas and TV at the far end. The property makes an ideal base for exploring farther afield if you so desire, but it is also perfect if you're just seeking peace and quiet. The property IS on a working farm, so the chickens may come to visit - the Guinea Fowl DEFINITELY will, and I loved their regular appearances. I would happily return for another visit, and wholeheartedly recommend Hatts Barn to anyone looking for a holiday in the West Country. ...

Mrs Bowmer March 2022

The accomodation is well represented in the pictures, it is very warm and comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked with all the pots and pans you would need for meal preparation. The dining and sitting areas are very spacious and the light from the floor to ceiling windows is fantastic (we were blessed with really good weather!) The bedrooms are spacious with comfortable beds and warm duvets. It's location is perfect as it is just outside Shaftesbury and within easy reach of many attractions and some fantastic walks. ...

McCrane December 2021

We had a delightful family Christmas stay at Hatts Farm. When I contacted Anthea beforehand for recommendations for local farm produce contacts/orders and pubs to book in advance, she could not have been more helpful. She also arranged a decorated Christmas tree, wreath and centrepiece for each of the cottages, as well as a platter of mince tarts. The kitchen was large and well equipped to cater for the entire group for the more than usually elaborate holiday meals. There was ample space for everyone in our party to find private space as well as gathering as a large group before fireplace or woodburning stove. The cottages were well appointed with comfortable beds . We especially enjoyed the morning visits of the chickens, ducks and guinea fowl and resident dogs. As all of us were escaping the city, it was wonderful to be surrounded by 150 acres with flocks of sheep and postcard barnyard outside the front door. Despite the wet weather we had wonderful walks and thoroughly enjoyed exploring the villages, farm shops and pubs in the area. We would advise any guests who are not familiar with the area, however, to follow Anthea's directions closely as sat nav is not reliable - and aim to arrive in daylight! ...

A lovely setting, very quiet, especially at night. Amusing to find that the chickens and Guinea fowl were queueing up outside the door in the mornings because they’d seen a car parked there.

Mrs Rance October 2021

We would thoroughly recommend this beautiful property, it is beautiful and light airy and spacious, yet warm and cosy too. We loved it and we are quite picky!!! This part of the country is great for holidays and while further from the sea it’s still reachable and there are so many other great things to do nearby. ...
