The accomodation is well represented in the pictures, it is very warm and comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked with all the pots and pans you would need for meal preparation. The dining and sitting areas are very spacious and the light from the floor to ceiling windows is fantastic (we were blessed with really good weather!) The bedrooms are spacious with comfortable beds and warm duvets. It's location is perfect as it is just outside Shaftesbury and within easy reach of many attractions and some fantastic walks.

We had a delightful family Christmas stay at Hatts Farm. When I contacted Anthea beforehand for recommendations for local farm produce contacts/orders and pubs to book in advance, she could not have been more helpful. She also arranged a decorated Christmas tree, wreath and centrepiece for each of the cottages, as well as a platter of mince tarts. The kitchen was large and well equipped to cater for the entire group for the more than usually elaborate holiday meals. There was ample space for everyone in our party to find private space as well as gathering as a large group before fireplace or woodburning stove. The cottages were well appointed with comfortable beds . We especially enjoyed the morning visits of the chickens, ducks and guinea fowl and resident dogs. As all of us were escaping the city, it was wonderful to be surrounded by 150 acres with flocks of sheep and postcard barnyard outside the front door. Despite the wet weather we had wonderful walks and thoroughly enjoyed exploring the villages, farm shops and pubs in the area. We would advise any guests who are not familiar with the area, however, to follow Anthea's directions closely as sat nav is not reliable - and aim to arrive in daylight!

A lovely setting, very quiet, especially at night. Amusing to find that the chickens and Guinea fowl were queueing up outside the door in the mornings because they’d seen a car parked there.

The location was excellent for exploring Wiltshire and Dorset, and also the Jurassic coast isn't too far. My duaghter loved being on a farm and enjoyed the chickens coming to say good morning each day. Lovely to get a welcome chocolate cake and fresh milk upon arrival. Thye knew we were coming with a baby and had already put up the cot and high chair for our use. Highly recommend this place for families.

We would thoroughly recommend this beautiful property, it is beautiful and light airy and spacious, yet warm and cosy too. We loved it and we are quite picky!!! This part of the country is great for holidays and while further from the sea it’s still reachable and there are so many other great things to do nearby.

Wonderful for a break with kids (they will love feeding the ducks and chickens) or just for adults (a leisurely walk to the pub or drinks by the pond). Hatts Barn was fantastic!

Extremely comfortable and spacious barn. Spotless with all amenities you could wish for. Thank you

Fantastic quality accommodation within easy drive to many attractions and wonderful walking. Superb holiday!

Hatts Barn was beautiful. The house is immaculate. The beds were so comfy. We loved the views and the peace, apart from the guinea fowl whom we watched perched on top of the roof ! The local pub was great - food amazing !!

Thank you - we loved it !

A lovely spacious, well equipped property in exceptional surroundings. The owners we so friendly and we had free run of their beautiful 150 acres of farmland. Lots of country walks directly from the barn. It felt like we were in the middle of nowhere but a very short car journey and we were in Shaftesbury which is steeped in history and very picturesque, with a variety of excellent restaurants and pubs. I would thoroughly recommend to anyone who is considering a stay here.

A beautiful property in a stunning location. The hosts were so welcoming and incredibly helpful. Hatts Barn was so comfortable, warm and with a fully stocked kitchen and ridiculously comfortable beds. We loved our stay and will certainly be coming back.

We had such a lovely stay here at Hatts Barn. A stunning location with beautiful views and yet only a short drive from the amenities of Shaftesbury. Lots of wonderful pubs to explore and a great base for us to take day trips to the south coast and Longleat. The barn itself is stunning and the open plan living worked brilliantly for us as a family of 4. The kids loved the visits from the resident ducks and chickens and the owners were on hand to help should we need it. Would thoroughly recommend this beautiful spot and would love to stay again.

Hatts Barn is very comfortable and well equipped, with good wifi. We didn’t need to use the log burner as the radiators provided plenty of heat. No problems with social distancing - it is set at the entrance to the farm and surrounded by country lanes. Ideal position for exploring the beautiful small towns of Dorset & Wiltshire. Happy to recommend for a country break. Made good use of the Community Shop at Semley which has a good range of local produce.

A great cosy cottage for 2 couples. The upside down living was excellent with a large living space upstairs and 2 large bedrooms downstairs each with a bathroom. The kitchen was well appointed so you could easily cook in all the time. It was in a quite remote location so not easy to walk to the pub, particularly in the winter but very close to Shafetsbury in the car. Lots of beautiful countryside in easy driving distance.

Very pleasant barn located in the farmyard where you can expect daily visits from the chickens, guinea fowl and ducks. Located in beautiful countryside and vey quiet and remote. The owners are quite happy for you to explore all over their farmland where there are fantastic views. Very well equipped and spacious.

Lovely cottage and beautiful surroundings. Only negative comment would be cars being revved continuously outside one night from the farm owners which wasn't relaxing and made it difficult to get young children to sleep.

Beautiful part of the world with a spacious well decorated property.

Lovely set up with the both cottages especially at the moment when you are socially distancing from other family households. It worked well for us. It’s peaceful and away from crowds. Great walks from the cottages and also within a few minutes drive. We walked on 4 of the days for miles and saw maybe 5 other people.

A lovely barn conversion with all the equipment needed and in a scenic location . It was super relaxing and the hosts were warm and friendly without being intrusive. I would highly recommend this cottage

We had a fantastic time at Hatts Barn. We stayed at Dairyman’s a few years ago which was excellent too. Loved the Peaceful location & immaculate spacious property which was perfect for our family. Would highly recommend & we hope to be back again soon. Thanks so much for the Victoria sponge which was a real hit!! X

Lovely property, very comfortable. Suited our needs well.

Mrs Gill Oct 2019 We stayed at Hatts Barn for a week a truly lovely place to stay...Bright spacious and beautifully decorated all throughout...The master bedroom was stunning and very comfy...The living areas were lovely and a view of the land around made an added bonus...Anthea the owner a lovely lady, very welcoming along with the chickens little dog Pickle who came to say hello...The surrounding area are a must...Sharftsbury a really nice town 10mins in the car lots of eating places, nice one off shops..plenty to do and places to visit...or just stay at Hatts Barn and enjoy the peaceful surroundings...we will be back JG

The two double bedrooms, one with zip-lock beds made this an ideal property for two couples to stay in, also with a bathroom each. We have never stayed in a holiday property so well supplied with games, jigsaws and books.

The cottage is in a lovely quiet setting, down a country lane. The views are lovely and you really feel away from it all. However, you're only an hour away (or less) from loads of attractions, so a good base. Inside it's nicely decorated and well-equipped. Our son really enjoyed being 'called on' by the chickens and cockerill each morning! He is still talking about them 3 weeks down the line..

Beautiful well equipped cottage. Lovely location on a small well kept working farm. Great location with lots to do nearby. Stourhead was by far the best national trust site we have been to. And the Jurassic coastline, just 45 mins away, was breathtaking. Would highly recommend

Great open plan living space.

We loved our stay in Hatts Barn. Definitely worth the distance traveled. (we came in from Belgium) The Barn served as perfect base from which we could visit the many wonderful castles, gardens, museums and other places of interest. Always a perfect place to come back to after a long day. and after some food and a good nights rest, ready for the next adventure. Will make sure to recommend to friends and family.

ps: Thanks for the sweet surprise.

We really enjoyed our stay at Hatts Barn. The Barn is very spacious, comfortable and well equipped. Friendly welcome from owners. There are plenty of good walking routes from the Barn and lots of great pubs within a short drive.

We have stayed before and find the cottage is excellent, comfortable and in such a quiet location to enjoy a peaceful break.

Georgous cottage in a farmyard setting off the beaten track. Our hosts were hospitable and would always take time to talk with us about the area, giving us plenty of suggestions for attractions to visit and places to eat if we didn't feel like cooking. If you're thinking of coming this way, Hatts Barn makes a great base for a lot to see and do in this boderland area of Wiltshire, Somerset and Dorset.

Lovely barn conversion, in need of some updating to bring it back to the standard it was when originally finished.

Thanks for passing on your comments and we're glad you liked the property generally. It's obviously a popular cottage and whilst no longer brand new, the owners do fully redecorate regularly (most recently in early 2017) and repair or replace items that are broken or worn as required. Once again, a lovely holiday at Hatts Barn. Property has all the things we, as a family, need and was as usual very comfortable and relaxing. Central location to what we needed. Thanks to Anthea and David, and Donna for making our holiday another special one. Hope to see you next year.

Thank you for beautiful accommodation, one of the best equipped kitchens we've had and a very nice Victoria sandwich cake on arrival :)

Another quality cottage from classic cottages, which we have become used to.

Hatts barn is a comfortable, clean and well equipped cottage and we were made to feel at home by the owners. Would definitely recommend it for a peaceful and relaxing break.

Beautiful cottage and surrounding area, would definitely return, and recommend friends to visit.

We had a lovely week at Hatts Barn. The owners were very friendly & welcoming. Our girls loved feeding the chickens every day. Great location from which to explore Dorset's many attractions. A few adjustments would be welcome for the summer months (lighter duvets/blackout blinds), but these did not spoil our stay in any way and we would definitely book Hatts Barn again next time we visit the area.

We had a very great stay at hatts barn. The cake from Anthea was a nice surprise and tasted deliciouse. We visited Stourhead Garden (fantastic), Longleat Safari, House & Garden (fantastic), Salisbury (very nice), New Forest (very nice), Devizes (wonderful), Lyme Regis (beautiful) and other places of interest.

Our children had a lot of fun wie the dogs, duck and other pets.

Greatings from germany :-)

Hatt's Barn is set in a beautiful location and its owners went out of their way to ensure our stay was enjoyable and comfortable. The barn was beautiful, with a great log fire and comfortable furnishings. Our daughter loved the chickens and the owners dogs, and we were thankful of the relaxed environment the owners created. We look forward to returning. The Ward family - Bedfordshire

Not suitable for cold weather unless owners fix the heating. Don't wxpect classic cottages to help if there are any problems.

We're so sorry to see your comments - you spoke with me on the day before your departure when you called us to say you felt cold in the snowy weather. It's been very chilly so we immediately asked the Owners to pop round with some additional portable heaters for the bedrooms as agreed. We're really sorry that you chose not to use this additional heating, and wish that we'd been able to help earlier in your stay. Following our conversation today, we have settled on a course of action which you've agreed is appropriate. Tanya, Customer Support

A wonderful, quiet New Years break at the barn. Beautiful accommodation with lovely views - spacious but warm and homely. Kitchen well equipped for self catering.

Cake on arrival was delicious and Anthea was helpful with our minor queries whilst we were there.

Some great walks in the vicinity (pick up a book from the tourist info in Shaftesbury if needed) and some great pubs (Beckford Arms especially).

Hatts Barn was an excellent base for our Christmas visit to family in the West Country.

David and Anthea gave us a warm welcome to their lovely farm with tea and a cake. And we really appreciated the seasonal touches including the decorated Christmas tree!

The barn is light, clean and comfortable with the room layout allowing everyone to be together without feeling crowded.

Our Children enjoyed exploring the fields and woods around the farm and Shaftesbury is a five minute drive away. Perfect.

Home from home lovely accommodation. Very easy to relax

Fantastic property in a good location for visiting many places in the area. The owners had paid great attention to detail and all the comforts of home were to hand ensuring that our every need was catered for. A November break we found the Barn to be cosy and welcoming and the cake baked by Anthea was scrumptious! Thank you. We enjoyed the break and and would recommend Hatts Barn to anyone seeking a luxurious rural retreat. We hope to be back soon.

Lovely holiday cottage. Really spacious, lots of room for two small children! Also great location for attractions near-by.

We had a fantastic four night break here. We were very happy with the cottage. It has a well designed layout, high quality finish, quality furnishings and had everything we needed. Beautiful quiet location, warm, welcoming house, comfortable beds, I could go was lovely!

Excellent hide-away and well equipped and maintained.

A great property for a peaceful holiday. Rural location yet very handy for Shaftesbury and Salisbury.

Farmyard setting without the agriculture! Comfortable, cosy and perfect location for exploring Shaftesbury area the surrounding area.

This is a well-proportioned property that is an ideal size for two couples or a small family. Set in an ideal location for exploring Dorset, the barn provides a great rural retreat that is only minutes away from the historic town of Shaftesbury with its good range of eateries as well as the famous Gold Street. Equally accessible are Stonehenge, Old Wardour Castle, Monkey World and Longleat. For those wanting to visit the coast although the distance is not too far, the road systems mean that a journey of 30 to 40 miles can take up to an hour and a half! Having said that, the Jurassic Coast is well worth the effort of the drive. We certainly enjoyed walking miles on the coastal path on a brilliant blue sky, golden sun February day. Guests at the barn will enjoy the rural setting, the early morning visits from the raucous fowl, and the great views of the gently rolling hills. With the woodburner ablaze, evenings are guaranteed to be comfortable and we certainly enjoyed basking in its warmth after long days of walking.

Hatts Barn is an outstanding holiday rental - a real home from home. Of all the places we've ever stayed this was bar far and away the most clean, comfortable and homely. The design and layout is excellent with first rate, modern facilities and equipment. We stayed there over Christmas and it had everything we needed to make for a perfect stay - I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking to explore the Dorset countryside as it's also perfectly placed for easy access.

This barn as been converted to a high standard but still keeps the original features. The farm and buildings were built around 1850.

Definitely lived up to its description, lovely cake on arrival and very helpful and friendly owners.

Another fantastic holiday at Hatts Barn. Clean, comfortable and relaxing. Central to so many things to do, the children particularly loved Longleat again. Will definitely be back again next year.

Great location, handy for visiting many local attractions. Owner very friendly, thank you for the lovely cake.!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Hatts Barn. It is an exceptionally comfortable and spacious barn conversion.

Within a two-hour drive from home and somewhere new to explore. The home-from-home feel with all mod-cons and a little taste of luxury too made a very easy break. We have a one-year old daughter so wanted everything to be as easy as possible, which it was.

Property was spacious, clean and extremely comfortable. Family friendly home and the built in stairgate upstairs was very useful for our 3 year old. The owners are very welcoming and we absolutely loved our holiday at Hatts Barn.

Very comfortable barn conversion located in a central location. The property was ideal for a family with small children (stair gate included) and there is enough space for wet days spent inside. Very comfortable and hospitable owners.
