August 2020

Beautiful part of the world with a spacious well decorated property.

July 2020

Lovely set up with the both cottages especially at the moment when you are socially distancing from other family households. It worked well for us. It’s peaceful and away from crowds. Great walks from the cottages and also within a few minutes drive. We walked on 4 of the days for miles and saw maybe 5 other people.

July 2020

A lovely barn conversion with all the equipment needed and in a scenic location . It was super relaxing and the hosts were warm and friendly without being intrusive. I would highly recommend this cottage

October 2019

September 2019

The two double bedrooms, one with zip-lock beds made this an ideal property for two couples to stay in, also with a bathroom each. We have never stayed in a holiday property so well supplied with games, jigsaws and books.

August 2019

The cottage is in a lovely quiet setting, down a country lane. The views are lovely and you really feel away from it all. However, you're only an hour away (or less) from loads of attractions, so a good base. Inside it's nicely decorated and well-equipped. Our son really enjoyed being 'called on' by the chickens and cockerill each morning! He is still talking about them 3 weeks down the line..

December 2018

Beautiful well equipped cottage. Lovely location on a small well kept working farm. Great location with lots to do nearby. Stourhead was by far the best national trust site we have been to. And the Jurassic coastline, just 45 mins away, was breathtaking. Would highly recommend

August 2018

Great open plan living space.

April 2018

We loved our stay in Hatts Barn. Definitely worth the distance traveled. (we came in from Belgium) The Barn served as perfect base from which we could visit the many wonderful castles, gardens, museums and other places of interest. Always a perfect place to come back to after a long day. and after some food and a good nights rest, ready for the next adventure. Will make sure to recommend to friends and family.

ps: Thanks for the sweet surprise.

February 2018

We really enjoyed our stay at Hatts Barn. The Barn is very spacious, comfortable and well equipped. Friendly welcome from owners. There are plenty of good walking routes from the Barn and lots of great pubs within a short drive.

November 2017

We have stayed before and find the cottage is excellent, comfortable and in such a quiet location to enjoy a peaceful break.

September 2017

Georgous cottage in a farmyard setting off the beaten track. Our hosts were hospitable and would always take time to talk with us about the area, giving us plenty of suggestions for attractions to visit and places to eat if we didn't feel like cooking. If you're thinking of coming this way, Hatts Barn makes a great base for a lot to see and do in this boderland area of Wiltshire, Somerset and Dorset.

August 2017

Lovely barn conversion, in need of some updating to bring it back to the standard it was when originally finished.

Thanks for passing on your comments and we're glad you liked the property generally. It's obviously a popular cottage and whilst no longer brand new, the owners do fully redecorate regularly (most recently in early 2017) and repair or replace items that are broken or worn as required. May 2017

Once again, a lovely holiday at Hatts Barn. Property has all the things we, as a family, need and was as usual very comfortable and relaxing. Central location to what we needed. Thanks to Anthea and David, and Donna for making our holiday another special one. Hope to see you next year.

April 2017

Thank you for beautiful accommodation, one of the best equipped kitchens we've had and a very nice Victoria sandwich cake on arrival :)

September 2016

Beautiful cottage and surrounding area, would definitely return, and recommend friends to visit.

September 2016

We had a lovely week at Hatts Barn. The owners were very friendly & welcoming. Our girls loved feeding the chickens every day. Great location from which to explore Dorset's many attractions. A few adjustments would be welcome for the summer months (lighter duvets/blackout blinds), but these did not spoil our stay in any way and we would definitely book Hatts Barn again next time we visit the area.

May 2016

We had a very great stay at hatts barn. The cake from Anthea was a nice surprise and tasted deliciouse. We visited Stourhead Garden (fantastic), Longleat Safari, House & Garden (fantastic), Salisbury (very nice), New Forest (very nice), Devizes (wonderful), Lyme Regis (beautiful) and other places of interest.

Our children had a lot of fun wie the dogs, duck and other pets.

Greatings from germany :-)

March 2016

Hatt's Barn is set in a beautiful location and its owners went out of their way to ensure our stay was enjoyable and comfortable. The barn was beautiful, with a great log fire and comfortable furnishings. Our daughter loved the chickens and the owners dogs, and we were thankful of the relaxed environment the owners created. We look forward to returning. The Ward family - Bedfordshire

March 2016

Not suitable for cold weather unless owners fix the heating. Don't wxpect classic cottages to help if there are any problems.

We're so sorry to see your comments - you spoke with me on the day before your departure when you called us to say you felt cold in the snowy weather. It's been very chilly so we immediately asked the Owners to pop round with some additional portable heaters for the bedrooms as agreed. We're really sorry that you chose not to use this additional heating, and wish that we'd been able to help earlier in your stay. Following our conversation today, we have settled on a course of action which you've agreed is appropriate. Tanya, Customer Support

December 2015

A wonderful, quiet New Years break at the barn. Beautiful accommodation with lovely views - spacious but warm and homely. Kitchen well equipped for self catering.

Cake on arrival was delicious and Anthea was helpful with our minor queries whilst we were there.

Some great walks in the vicinity (pick up a book from the tourist info in Shaftesbury if needed) and some great pubs (Beckford Arms especially).

December 2015

Hatts Barn was an excellent base for our Christmas visit to family in the West Country.

David and Anthea gave us a warm welcome to their lovely farm with tea and a cake. And we really appreciated the seasonal touches including the decorated Christmas tree!

The barn is light, clean and comfortable with the room layout allowing everyone to be together without feeling crowded.

Our Children enjoyed exploring the fields and woods around the farm and Shaftesbury is a five minute drive away. Perfect.

November 2015

Home from home lovely accommodation. Very easy to relax

November 2015

Fantastic property in a good location for visiting many places in the area. The owners had paid great attention to detail and all the comforts of home were to hand ensuring that our every need was catered for. A November break we found the Barn to be cosy and welcoming and the cake baked by Anthea was scrumptious! Thank you. We enjoyed the break and and would recommend Hatts Barn to anyone seeking a luxurious rural retreat. We hope to be back soon.

June 2015

Excellent hide-away and well equipped and maintained.

April 2015

A great property for a peaceful holiday. Rural location yet very handy for Shaftesbury and Salisbury.

March 2015

Farmyard setting without the agriculture! Comfortable, cosy and perfect location for exploring Shaftesbury area the surrounding area.

February 2015

This is a well-proportioned property that is an ideal size for two couples or a small family. Set in an ideal location for exploring Dorset, the barn provides a great rural retreat that is only minutes away from the historic town of Shaftesbury with its good range of eateries as well as the famous Gold Street. Equally accessible are Stonehenge, Old Wardour Castle, Monkey World and Longleat. For those wanting to visit the coast although the distance is not too far, the road systems mean that a journey of 30 to 40 miles can take up to an hour and a half! Having said that, the Jurassic Coast is well worth the effort of the drive. We certainly enjoyed walking miles on the coastal path on a brilliant blue sky, golden sun February day. Guests at the barn will enjoy the rural setting, the early morning visits from the raucous fowl, and the great views of the gently rolling hills. With the woodburner ablaze, evenings are guaranteed to be comfortable and we certainly enjoyed basking in its warmth after long days of walking.

December 2014

Hatts Barn is an outstanding holiday rental - a real home from home. Of all the places we've ever stayed this was bar far and away the most clean, comfortable and homely. The design and layout is excellent with first rate, modern facilities and equipment. We stayed there over Christmas and it had everything we needed to make for a perfect stay - I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking to explore the Dorset countryside as it's also perfectly placed for easy access.

October 2014

This barn as been converted to a high standard but still keeps the original features. The farm and buildings were built around 1850.

September 2014

Definitely lived up to its description, lovely cake on arrival and very helpful and friendly owners.

May 2014

Another fantastic holiday at Hatts Barn. Clean, comfortable and relaxing. Central to so many things to do, the children particularly loved Longleat again. Will definitely be back again next year.

April 2014

Great location, handy for visiting many local attractions. Owner very friendly, thank you for the lovely cake.!!

April 2014

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Hatts Barn. It is an exceptionally comfortable and spacious barn conversion.

September 2013

Within a two-hour drive from home and somewhere new to explore. The home-from-home feel with all mod-cons and a little taste of luxury too made a very easy break. We have a one-year old daughter so wanted everything to be as easy as possible, which it was.

May 2013

Property was spacious, clean and extremely comfortable. Family friendly home and the built in stairgate upstairs was very useful for our 3 year old. The owners are very welcoming and we absolutely loved our holiday at Hatts Barn.

May 2013

Very comfortable barn conversion located in a central location. The property was ideal for a family with small children (stair gate included) and there is enough space for wet days spent inside. Very comfortable and hospitable owners.
