DoubleStep into a piece of Cornish history at Admiral’s Den, a two-bedroom apartment occupying a wing of the magnificent Grade II Listed Georgian Nancealverne House. Set within 25 acres of enchanting grounds, this property combines timeless elegance with modern comfort, creating a truly memorable escape in a stunning location in west Cornwall.
Rich in heritage, Nancealverne House has been recently gifted to the Cornwall Heritage Trust and Classic Cottages are delighted to be working alongside them to promote this special property. The house has strong connections with Cornwall’s maritime past and retains an abundance of original period features that reflect the grandeur of this historical home.
The apartment offers a warm welcome for couples or families and four-legged friends. The retreat is set on one floor (there are entrance steps to the property), with two comfortable bedrooms sharing a family shower-room. The kitchen has all you need for a relaxing stay including an air fryer and coffee pod machine. The true centrepiece of this cottage is the magnificent sitting-room. It is bathed in natural light from the impressive floor to ceiling original Georgian windows with breathtaking views across the sweeping grounds to the front of the house. Original artworks adorn the walls, adding character and charm and sharing the stories of the home. It is an elegant space to sit and relax, admire the scenery or light the cosy wood-burner set in the original marble fireplace and relish in the space of times gone by.
During your stay you are welcome to explore the beautiful estate (shared with the other two properties here) with its peaceful gardens and small lake bustling with life (please keep dogs on a lead). Occasionally, a few cattle graze on the field in front of the house. Guests of Admiral's Den can also enjoy access to Spinney Field, a peaceful haven teeming with wildlife. Wake up to birdsong, rabbits and butterflies in the grassland and keep an eye out for woodpeckers and visiting songbirds. A perfect spot for a morning stroll, lunchtime picnic or simply soaking up the tranquility of the Cornish countryside.
There is also private parking by the apartment for your convenience.
Perfectly positioned, you are in easy reach of some of Cornall most iconic destinations. Wander the golden sands and tidal causeway leading to St Michael's Mount in Marazion, browse the independent galleries and cafes of Penzance and experience the bustling fishing harbour in Newlyn. Take a trip to Mousehole and lose yourself in the narrow street and charming cottages, grab lunch on the harbour front pub or cafe.
You may also like to explore more of the Cornwall Heritage Trusts historic locations, in particular Tregiffian monument, a burial site dating from the late Neolithic period, the Iron Age village of Carn Euny near Sancreed or Castle on Dinas (West), a rare Iron Age hill fort near Penzance with stunning views across Mounts Bay. Do pack some walking shoes!
There are also many dramatic coastal walks to enjoy, beautiful beaches and gardens to explore, every day offers a new adventure. Whether you are seeking a peaceful countryside stay, exploring fascinating history or coastal adventures, Admiral’s Den is the perfect place to base yourself to enjoy this special part of the county.
