Situated within a delightful courtyard surrounded by verdant landscapes, you'll find Magical Cottage. This beautifully converted single-storey former outbuilding, pairs its agricultural heritage with an interior which has been thoughtfully designed to give the appearance that it has been here forever. Enveloped in Northumberland's Dark Sky territory, your days will be measured by the appearance of the stars not the hands of the clock. With a name like this, it conjures up dreams of perfect relaxation and comfort, with pet sheep roaming in the field, and woodlands for you to wander in, this is the place to make special memories together.

As soon as you step into the large entrance hall you will feel the soothing and harmonious vibe of this lovely, converted barn. The large open plan living area has muted tones that calm the senses, original beams juxtaposed with a modern squishy sofa inviting you to curl up together. Simply strike a match to the wood-burner and settle in for a seductively slow weekend.

There's a wonderfully fitted cottage kitchen for culinary aficionados, showcasing vintage finds and family treasures. Start the day sipping tea then pop croissants in the oven and indulge in an al fresco breakfast, as the kitchen-area opens out onto the pretty shared courtyard.

The two bedrooms marry authentic features with carefully selected furnishings which are effortlessly stylish and utterly inviting. Next to the bedrooms is a luxe bathroom with a bathtub and separate shower cubicle.

The outdoor area is shared with Magical Barn (5996), (which you can book together with Magical Cottage) with space aplenty to explore the grounds where there are pet sheep to visit, lawns to wander upon and hills to climb where you can see for miles when you reach the top. Please note that the owners live on site but are very mindful of guests.

At Magical Cottage you can spend your days in hiking boots or heels, so whether you are a city dweller or a country lover you can hunker down and feel your worries just melt away into the dark sky distance.

Northumberland is the northern-most County in England and most of the coastline is in an National Landscape (formally known as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) and this county has a wild and interesting past. Northumberland today is a peaceful place with vast forests, dark skies, magnificent castles and of course a fascinating history.

The Northumberland of yore wasn't quite so tranquil as today which the Roman and Viking history will attest to. Start your journey into times past at Hadrian's Wall, an UNESCO World Heritage Site and built around AD122. Vindolanda is one of the most famous forts, take a guided tour to learn all about the Roman life here or walk around the Roman Army Museum and Magna Fort. The Roman forts of Segedunum, Chesters and Housesteads also have forts and are also worth a visit.

Walltown Crags is the most scenic spot from which to view Hadrian's Wall. After all this excitement you will need some refreshment, visit The Twice Brewed Inn which is on Military Road (straight of course!) and even has an on site observatory. The sad demise of Sycamore Gap has been adorned with a striking new sculpture from the original tree trunk.

When the sun goes down Northumberland comes into its own, the night skies in the National Park and most of Keilder Water and Forest Park have been awarded gold tier status by the International Dark Sky Association. Keilder observatory runs expert led events and you don't have to go far to see the starry night in all its twinkling glory.

There are castles aplenty in Northumberland for you to explore but also cute villages such as Alston which appears to tumble down the hill, the famous waterfalls of Asgill Force and High Force and many artisan shops and producers. Northumberland is certainly a place you will fall in love with.
