This is such a wonderful place to stay. Lerryn is lovely, and it s great location for reaching the rest of Cornwall. The cabin itself is amazing, as is the BBQ hut, and Nicola and Richard are fantastic hosts. Cannot recommend it enough!

Mrs Willett August 2021

The property exceeded our expectations, it is in a stunning very private setting, photo’s do not do it justice. The village is a short walk away with great pub, village shop and a river with gorgeous walks. Amazing countryside and access to beautiful beaches. The shepherds hut is one of the most comfortable, relaxing places we have ever stayed in and the owners couldn’t be more helpful or kind, we loved it!...

Shepherd’s Rest is a little slice of heaven! The property itself is beautifully presented inside with every effort made by the owners to provide you with everything that you could possibly need during your stay with them - from a hairdryer to a garlic press! Upon arrival, we headed straight to the farmhouse and were welcomed by both Nicola and Richard, the owners. Nicola gave us directions where to go and Richard met us down there. The parking is ample and a wheelbarrow is thoughtfully provided for you to walk your belongings from the parking area down to the hut. Richard had great local knowledge and recommended local walks and places to visit while we were there. We were delighted to find a full cream tea welcoming us to Shepherd’s Rest, absolutely delicious! Inside the hut, the kitchen was well equipped and easy to cook in, the armchairs were comfy to lounge in when it was raining outside and the bed was built up so that you gained plenty of storage underneath for clothes and any holiday purchases. The shower was lovely thanks to good water pressure in the hut. Everything was spotlessly clean and it was clear a lot of thought had gone in to the presentation of the property. We didn’t use the wood burner inside because it was quite nice weather but I imagine it would make the hut delightfully toasty should you be staying in colder weather. We did use the chiminea outside during the evening which meant we could star-gaze without getting chilly. Outside, the additional storage hut contains an extra fridge which was really handy when you wanted to do a larger shop. It was also useful to have an outside space to house the fishing gear brought with us. The lakes are absolutely stunning to sit by and either fish or lose yourself in a good book. The ducks and geese on the top pond are just delightful to watch with their funny ways and they love to say “hello” as you walk past. The BBQ hut down by the bottom pond is absolutely charming. It had everything we needed and is thoughtfully equipped with a decent range of BBQ tools, cushions and blankets for the seating area and kindling and coals to get you started. The hut’s sides are hinged so that you can open up the window during nice weather but also means that when it gets chilly or drizzly, you can put the up and be cosy inside. There is a torch provided which illuminates the hut during the evening time and even a bottle opener mounted on the wall so that you don’t have to carry one up and down from the house. WiFi is not available in the main hut but down by the BBQ hut, we got full 4G on our phones. All in all, this is a stunning place to escape from the world for a bit. The owners are generous and available should you want to speak to them but they aren’t intrusive in any way. The dog is great fun to have around and throw the ball for (or fish the ball out of the pond for!) but will be kept away if dogs aren’t your thing. This is...
