True tranquility can be found in the rugged landscape of The Lizard. Gull Rock Cabin invites you to switch off from the modern world and enjoy absolute peace and stunning sea views westwards across Mount's Bay. Set within a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, sit back and relax on the sofa or in the sunshine on the verandah and relish spectacular sunsets as you watch seabirds wheeling in to roost on Mullion Island bird sanctuary.

Set on cliffs in a nature reserve, hidden half a mile down a track, the nearest house (apart from the owner's home at the end of the drive) is half a mile away. The seclusion of Gull Rock offers the opportunity to spot many species of wildlife: foxes, badgers, stoats and rabbits are frequent visitors; occasionally deer may be seen grazing on the cliffs. Offshore, seals may be spotted in season, also an occasional basking shark. Soaring above the cliffs you might spot buzzards, kestrels, and in summer peregrine falcons, what a treat.

Gull Rock Cabin was built in 1928 and recently has been lovingly restored, using many of the original timbers believed to have been harvested from ships wrecked off this wild coast a hundred years ago. These have been used to create a bespoke galley-style kitchen in an open plan living space, which enables you to enjoy ever-changing views of the cliffs and the sea. At the end of the day, you can drift off to sleep in the cosy bedroom to the sound of the waves and the stream in the valley below.

This is the perfect place to explore this unspoilt part of Cornwall. Picturesque Kynance Cove, the old smugglers' coves of Mullion and Polurrian, all sandy beaches, are reachable along the coast path. If you need refreshment after the hills, there are cafes where you can enjoy a hot chocolate or ice cream at Kynance, Mullion and Poldhu Coves. Poldhu offers surfing lessons, and kayaking, paddle boarding, windsurfing, kitesurfing or coasteering are all available locally. Mullion village is well serviced with local shops, two pubs and several restaurants. Live music is a regular feature of life on the Lizard, where you can enjoy folk music, sea shanties, or jazz at a local pub, or travel further afield to the open-air Minack theatre at Porthcurno.

No matter what time of year, Gull Rock Cabin is a perfect get away and you will leave feeling incredibly well rested, and longing to return.
