In a county of hills, dales and sandy beaches, you will find the moors village of Glaisdale and nestled in a sleepy lane sits Goaf Cottage, an old farm building converted into a gorgeous contemporary home. The cottage brings creative energy to the North York Moors and with its picturesque views, is an ideal retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Tenderly brought back to life by its architect owners, Goaf Cottage has been restored and resurrected in keeping with its heritage. Step into the spacious hallway with its original exposed stone wall and an industrial-style galleried landing. Kick off your shoes at the door and breeze into the sitting-room, gather in front of the wood-burner which brings warmth to chilly evenings and makes Goaf Cottage as cosy a winter retreat as it is a summer getaway. A handy door opens out onto the large patio. Eclectic artwork is dotted all around the cottage. Steps lead down to the charming kitchen/diner, which uses unusually sourced materials including the dining-table with its stylish concrete top. Packed with everything you need to enjoy a self-catering holiday and graced with large French doors opening to the patio and overlooking the verdant countryside the kitchen is a place to gather, reflect and plan tomorrow's adventures.

When night time beckons, wander up to the two welcoming bedrooms. There is a slight slope to the ceilings which all adds to the cottage ambiance (please take care). Both bedrooms are artfully decorated and perfect for lazy mornings with the paper. The double bedroom and twin bedroom have crisp linens and fluffy pillows inviting a night of restful slumber. Two shower-rooms, one upstairs and one downstairs, will invigorate even the weariest of guests. Outdoors the patio with its large table, sunbeds and comfy sofa, has everything you need to enjoy a fix of wonderful fresh Yorkshire air and amazing views. Then tomorrow head beachwards towards Whitby and your toes will be sandy in no time.

Nestled in the heart of the beautiful North York Moors National Park, Goaf Cottage provides the perfect base for exploring North Yorkshire. Set in the charming village of Glaisdale, you'll find yourself surrounded by rolling moorland, peaceful country lanes and stunning scenery at every turn.

Step outside and enjoy all that village life has to offer. Wander through the picturesque streets, visit the welcoming local pub, or set off on the famous Coast to Coast Walk. Keep an eye out for the village's four-legged residents too, as sheep are never far from the view!

One of the area's greatest attractions is quite literally at the bottom of the village. From Glaisdale station, a short stroll from the cottage, you can hop aboard the renowned North Yorkshire Moors Railway and enjoy a steam train journey through spectacular scenery to Whitby or the market town of Pickering. Just two miles away is the idyllic village of Lealholm, famous for its stream and stepping stones, while nearby Grosmont offers cosy cafes, restaurants and rich railway heritage.

The Yorkshire coast is also within easy reach. In just 15 minutes, you can be exploring the award-winning beaches of Whitby, Sandsend and Runswick Bay. Whitby itself is a must-visit, with its bustling harbour, independent shops and historic Abbey, reached via the famous 199 Steps with breathtaking views across the town and coastline.

For those feeling creative, Goaf Cottage is adjoined to Studio Glaisdale, where a variety of workshops and events take place throughout the year.

After a day of exploring moorland, coast and countryside, you'll love returning to the comfort and tranquility of Goaf Cottage, a peaceful retreat in one of Yorkshire's most beautiful locations.
