Hidden away near the serene waters of the Helford River lies this thoughtfully renovated barn conversion and wild spa, where every detail has been crafted with care. From the soft-edged architecture to the gently curving windows and doors that invite light and calm into every corner, this is a thoughtfully curated homestay which captures the very essence of sublime escapism.
Step through the solid oak front door and you're immediately welcomed into a space that soothes the senses. To your left, the kitchen is a burst of joyful colour which boasts a traditional Shaker-style kitchen in a rich azure blue with a sunny yellow Everhot range that invites slow breakfasts and sociable evenings around the dining-table. It gives a real Tuscan farmhouse feel with the Italian-style drainer over the sink. Elegant and refined - yet practical and beautifully designed, it is so much more than a cooking space.
To the right, the sitting-room offers an exquisite blend of old and new - exposed stonework is sympathetic to the history of this building and laces the space with character and charm. The floor-to-ceiling window floods the room with light and opens directly onto your private patio and lawn area, with a peaceful seating area perfect for long lunches and evening drinks under the stars. A ground floor cloakroom is discreetly tucked away just off the hallway and is as beautifully appointed and designed as every other magnificent space within this gorgeous home.
Up the authentic oak staircase, two beautifully styled bedrooms each come with their own en suite, offering privacy and comfort in equal measure. The first is calm with neutral, earthy tones and a sleek en suite shower-room. The second bedroom has a wonderful mezzanine level that adds an exciting architectural twist, and its en suite boasts a gorgeous roll-top bath and separate shower.
This semi-detached barn shares its tranquil setting, pool and spa area with its sister property Swallows' Nest (6007) and Darling Chestnut (6009), as well as the resident owners who both live and work here, yet still exhibits total privacy with your own individual outdoor space attached to the barn.
One of the most enchanting features of this location is the onsite wild spa - a truly unique experience that is both restorative and immersive. Just a short wander from the oak timber door of Starry Skies, you'll find an unfenced, reed-filtered natural swimming pond, six foot at its deepest, shaded by a graceful willow tree. Guests are welcome to enjoy this shared wild swimming spot at any time, whether for a cool morning dip or a moonlit float (please supervise children here at all times, bringing their life jackets with them for safety). There are five granite steps leading down into the wild pond to gently ease you in.
There is also a beautifully designed wellness area complete with a wood-fired hot tub, a timber sauna, a warm outdoor shower and a sun-soaked patio with loungers. The sauna opens daily from 16.30. (Please note, the hot tub is available all day every day but restricted on a Friday and won't be available until after 15.00 hours).
For those seeking a little movement or mindfulness, there's also a dedicated yoga studio onsite that guests can book for personal practice, that transforms into a fun family film space by night and private slots can be reserved on site. Children must be supervised at all times in the communal spaces and quiet time after 11pm.
Please note there is a small campsite operational on site in the August months, and campsite guests have access to the wild swimming pond.
