Zip and linkNestled within a row of quaint cottages close to the sandy dunes and beaches of South Beach, you will discover this gorgeous dog-friendly retreat with the option of booking a stunning and spacious ground floor annexe; perfect for elderly relatives, couples and older children, with a private shower-room, situated in the picturesque garden of Blackberry Cottage. Both the cottage and annexe can be enjoyed year-round with loved ones as well as your four-legged friends as Blackberry Cottage welcomes upto two well-behaved dogs.
The cottage itself blends traditional Norfolk character with modern comforts and the traditional Carrstone façade, the cottage welcomes up to six guests across three first floor bedrooms with the separate ground floor annexe offering a large additional bedroom with the option of a sumptuous super-king 'zip and link' bed.
As you enter the front porch to Blackberry Cottage kick off your shoes and relax into the comfy sofas in the cosy sitting-room with its wood-burning stove and cast-iron Victorian-style radiator. The dining-area with large dining-table and decorative fireplace sits beyond the sitting-room and is the perfect place for entertaining and family gatherings. The chef in the party will love cooking up a fabulous feast with local ingredients in the adjacent, extremely well-equipped and generously sized cottage kitchen, fresh produce is available at the local farm shop on the outskirts of the village at the exceedingly popular deli and butchery of Norfolk Lavender.
Climb the stairs from the sitting-room to the spacious first floor where you will find three bedrooms which share a family bathroom. The principal room boasts a king-size bed with ample space for your holiday apparel and enjoys an easterly aspect. Two further double bedrooms are located across from the king room, and for those who seek a quiet area to work remotely, one of these has a super little desk space. Countryside views from the bedroom windows with seasonal wildlife and changing skies are the perfect backdrop to your Norfolk holiday.
From the kitchen explore the cottage garden with its varied seating-areas, perfect for barbecues and social gatherings. A few short steps take you to the beautifully appointed modern ground floor annexe. This stunning Garden Retreat boasts a relaxing light-filled space away from the cottage with sofa, Smart TV, WiFi and tea and coffee making facilities. A small step takes you into the open plan living/bedroom space; ideal for grandparents or couples with its super-king 'zip and link' bed which can also be configured as twins, if preferred. A modern shower-room completes this private retreat making it ideal for those members of the party that might want to enjoy a little extra space and independence, whilst still being part of this fabulous holiday experience (children under the age of 16 may not sleep in the annexe unless accompanied by an adult).
The tranquil setting of Blackberry Cottage offers a wonderful sense of space and privacy, yet is within easy reach of Heacham's two beaches, shops and cafes on this superb west-facing coastline, and just a gentle stroll along the promenade to the stunning Victorian seaside town of Hunstanton and neighbouring Old Hunstanton.
Listen out for the 'clip clop' of hooves on the unadopted lane as horses return from their beach hack less than a mile away at South Beach. There are plenty of stunning walks from your door, follow the lane and discover the pathways to the far end of South Beach, passing by the dunes, adorned with colourful beach huts, and enjoy a spectacular end to the day in awe of the stunning sunsets, where the sky meets the sea.
On the outskirts of Heacham itself is the popular shopping experience of Norfolk Lavender, with its farm shop, butchers and bakery, tea rooms and restaurant. The whole family can enjoy a scented stroll amongst the lavender or sample the outdoor pizza parlour whilst youngsters run off excess energy in the play area.
The Royal Norfolk residence of Sandringham House is a short drive from the cottage, where locals and visitors flock to enjoy the house and gardens and events such as the popular flower show, as well as outdoor concerts, featuring some amazing bands from across the decades.
The Victorian seaside town of Hunstanton has plenty to occupy visitors of all ages with a classic seaside promenade, Sea Life Centre, penny arcades, fish and chips and ice cream stalls. Families will love rock pooling and fossil hunting together at low tide, then enjoy a mooch around the shops and a bite to eat, as the town boasts a variety of independent shops, cafes and tea rooms.
Hunstanton is a popular destination for water sport enthusiasts with kite and windsurfing as well as paddleboarding being a popular past-time. Equipment hire and lessons are available from beach front operators with trained instructors on hand so why not give it a try! Discover the many RSPB reserves close by at Holme-next-the-Sea and Snettisham. A spectacular sight can often be observed when tens of thousands of wading birds gather on the mudflats, then watch as the birds take to the air, shimmering and whirling above the mudflats in a feathered cacophony, referred to locally as the 'Snettisham Spectacular', a must see for many who visit the area.
