Mousehole is a fabulous place for a holiday, steeped in history and brimming with things to do. With easy access onto the coast path and sea sports galore on your doorstep, everyone will find their perfect pastime, whether it be adventuring or just sitting in the sunshine enjoying the view. Whether you are holidaying with friends or family, Dove Cottage is a fabulous base for your Cornish holiday.
Situated on a street in the centre of the village, from the moment you arrive you will relax into your getaway at this charming cottage. The ground floor living space is open plan with oodles of character such as exposed beams and re-claimed wooden floors. The sitting area has comfy sofas and a wood-burner effect electric stove to keep you warm whatever the weather. A kitchen at the rear has all the equipment you will need to cook a holiday meal and the farmhouse table is the perfect place to gather everyone together to chat about the days adventures.
The stairs are steep and turning, as is traditional in Cornish cottages, and these take you to the first floor with two pretty bedrooms and the family shower-room. Bedroom one is a double bedded room whilst bedroom two has built-in bunk-beds which the children in the party will love. Please note the bunk-beds are not suitable for adults. The stylish family shower-room on this floor is ideal for rinsing salty toes after a busy beach day. A further steep staircase leads to bedroom three on the second floor. This delightful room has a double bed and fabulous Velux window giving a view over the rooftops towards the surrounding countryside. You can escape to this room for a quiet read on the day bed - perfect! Please note, Dove Cottage has three bedrooms for flexibility but is only suitable for four guests.
Outside, the harbourside is just a stroll away so you can take your morning coffee, evening aperitif and everything in between down to the water's edge to watch the tide ebb and flow throughout the day, the ultimate holiday pastime.
If heaven is a place on earth, then you've found a little piece of it here. Mousehole is a quintessential Cornish fishing village, with charming granite cottages perched around a pretty harbour where local fishing boats bob on the ebb and flow of the tide. Here you'll find a good selection of eateries and pubs including The Coastguard, famed for its waterside location and stunning views.
The coast path quite literally runs through Mousehole so walkers can pick up a route in either direction to discover miles of dramatic coastline and gorgeous seascapes. You may decide not to use your car on holiday but if you do, a short drive away the Minack Theatre stands proudly overlooking the Atlantic. Book ahead and enjoy the experience of a lifetime watching theatre with a backdrop of the sea, or call in for a looksee during the day, it really is quite spectacular. Beautiful Porthcurno beach sits next door so take your gear and spend time enjoying the crystal-clear waters and white sands at the same time.
For another day of exploring head for Marazion and the legendary St Michael's Mount. This magnificent castle can either be accessed on foot over a cobbled causeway at low tide and ferryboat when the tide is high. Marazion is also home to a great selection of galleries and cafes so do spend some time exploring the area. A long flat walkway heads from here into Penzance, great for dog walks with a view!
