Hidden away in the grounds of a Grade II Listed former rectory, this picture-perfect cottage is a delightful Dorset escape. As you pull into the spacious parking-area you will get a feel of the history and beauty of the setting.
Inside, the cottage is cosy and welcoming with all of the mod-cons you could wish for. The sitting-room has a gorgeous sofa for curling up on and out-of-season you can enjoy the benefit of the wood-burner. Upstairs, there are two bedrooms that both have lovely distant views across open countryside.
Heading outside, there is a lovely tucked away space with table and chairs right next to the property, perfect for eating, drinking and relaxing. The stunning, sprawling gardens and grounds are quite the show piece but are currently undergoing a series of development and improvement, so may not be accessible at this time.
This stretch of the Jurassic Coast is the only natural World Heritage Site in England, ranked alongside no less than the Great Barrier Reef and the Grand Canyon. You are sure to fall in love with the incredible views, abundance of history and charming atmosphere of this special place. Heading out from the village of Puncknowle (pronounced Punnel by locals), be sure to take a leisurely drive along the coast road that meanders all the way from Weymouth to Bridport. Be sure to pack your camera, as there are some outstanding vistas along the way. For a pit-stop, head to Hive Beach Cafe, the beachside restaurant serving exceptional local seafood or if you would prefer a cosy pub then take your pick from the many chocolate box villages that line the coast road.
A short drive away is the town of Bridport, a vibrant place that still has two markets a week, as well as a vintage quarter that is certainly worth visiting. If you're feeling energetic then climb up to the top of Colmer's Hill in nearby Symondsbury - we promise the view is worth it! If you are not looking to venture too far from Rectory Cottage then there are some fantastic walks right from the doorstep and you can treat yourself afterwards in the village pub, The Crown Inn.
