Charming Mount Wise Farmhouse is over 400 years old, and like a good wine has only improved over time, and is now available for stays for six lucky guests and two four-legged friends. Mount Wise Farmhouse has a storied history, rumoured to have once been home to Thomas Cromwell and featuring in an episode of the Cornish crime drama 'Wycliffe', which included the fogou opposite the Farmhouse's front door.

Arrive and enter into the spacious dining-room, which acts as the hub of the house, and leads to a well-equipped kitchen, a cosy sitting-room with wood-burning stove and a practical utility-room. Cleverly situated under the stairs is a handy table and chair in case you need access your emails or maybe relax doing some holiday crafts and the stairs themselves lead up to the second king-size bedroom making the property also perfect for two couples as you each have plenty of personal space as there is also access from here to the downstairs shower-room.

Mount Wise Farmhouse comes with everything needed to host families and friends, with two double bedrooms, a twin room and more than enough room to lie back and relax. The ground floor has three fridges and a freezer, the dining-room table seats eight and there is plenty of seating to go around in the lounge and reception room. If Mount Wise Cottage (2187) has also been booked for your stay, guests are quite welcome to enjoy dinner in the Farmhouse as it is an ideal place to bring families and friends together. The dining-room itself houses a well-maintained Rayburn stove, which is perfect for keeping the room warm during winter and for preparing slow-roast feasts.

From the utility-room, guests can head upstairs to the twin room, dressing-room, bathroom and main bedroom, or head outside to access storage for bikes and wetsuits and a shared tumble-drier.

The Farmhouse has all the best features in its stylish rooms, including a deep roll-top bath, original slate and granite flooring, granite fireplaces, lintels and a slate sink in the utility-room. The kitchen offers a generous amount of workspace on its granite worktops and a Belfast sink, and comes with a double electric range cooker.

Babes in arms under six months old, and children over 10 years old, are welcome. Should you want for anything, the very friendly owner can be reached in their adjacent barn and is on hand to provide extra linen/towels if required, advice about the area or anything else you could think of.

Outside you are truly spoilt for choice, with a three-tiered front garden, sizeable number of fields for walking, lawned area with picnic table and nearby Stithians Reservoir to explore. On the door step there is the newly created Platinum Jubilee Trail, a circular walk through the Parish of Wendron's unspoilt natural environment and industrial heritage, created, as the name suggests, in honour of Her Majesty's Platinum Jubilee. Do bring your walking boots though as it is nearly eight miles if you complete it all at once.

Mount Wise Farmhouse is perfectly positioned for exploring Cornwall, with easy access to Cornwall's north and south coasts and the far west of the county. The Helford River, beautiful Trebah and Glendurgan gardens are all a short drive away.
