Bigbury beach is a short walk from Island Cottage. At low tide you can walk to Burgh Island and when the tide's in you can catch a ride on the sea tractor.
The town of Kingsbridge is a short drive away with plenty of independent shops and places to eat.
For a change of scenery, head to dramatic Dartmoor with it's stunning landscape and Dartmoor ponies, plus plenty of places to stop off for a cream tea.
You're never too far from beautiful places to visit - this is Salcombe.

Island Cottage is a fantastic house in a fabulous location. The view of Burgh Island from the bedroom window is really stunning. The house was immaculately clean and the facilities excellent. We enjoyed sitting out on the terrace at breakfast before a short walk down to the beach where we swam or kayaked around Burgh Island stopping off at hidden coves only accessible by boat. There are good places to eat near by, we would recommend the Venus Cafe at the beach, Journeys End pub and The Oyster Shack....

It is a fantastic property with a breathtaking view from all parts of the house. Just sitting quietly reading out on the deck sofa after a day on the beach with my teenager, watching the tides as a schooner rounded Burgh island and dropped anchor was beyond magic. We loved it so much we booked for next year before we had left the property. Thoughtful touches, eco-friendly and spotlessly clean with walkable beach, great cafe and watersports hire. The perfect place to switch off, reconnect and marvel at the beauty of the coastline....
