Mr Wright October 2025

Coverack is a rather special place which I have known since 1951 when my Grandparents lived in the village. I cannot avoid regular visits. Its climate is mild (except when an east wind is blowing in a big swell!). Its character as a classic fishing village has lost a bit to second home owners but it still has lots of charm. Boak villa is situated little more than a 'stone throw' (up a 1 in 5 hill) from the Paris Hotel which serves delicious meals and good beer. You have the harbour, the old lifeboat station (now a restaurant) and wonderful walks along the SW Coastal path at close hand. Just down the road, there is the beach, great for swimming unless the wind is in the east! We can really recommend visits out of the peak periods as it rarely gets really cold and frost and snow are pretty rare. For those who are interested in walks and geology, I can vouch for Coverack being perhaps the most interesting place I have visited for geology being on an outcrop that shows outcrops of Serpentinization of mantle rock as a result of Mohorovicic discontinuity which occured some 380 million years ago...

Mrs Heaps September 2025

Nice cottage with glorious views.

Dr Hughes November 2025

Location is wonderful with wide ranging see views. Cottage was extremely clean and there was a thoughtful basket of goodies when we arrived, including milk in the fridge, local coffee & tea, biscuits and a jar of superb home made jam. Points to note: stairs to the downstairs bedrooms are very narrow and steep (ok for children) and there is no room for a handrail (there is access from the outside to the downstairs area avoiding the stairs). There are steps between sitting and kitchen areas which are extremely narrow (ok for a size 3 foot). The chairs in the sitting area appear very well used and we found them excruciatingly uncomfortable - so spent most of the time sitting on the hard kitchen chairs. Most fixtures, fittings and contents appear old, well used and in many cases chipped or worn. We had to buy rinse aid and a cleaning pouch to get the dishwasher to work and clean the dishes. Logs for 1 night only are provided. We went in the November, and given the facilities we felt that it was not value for money. In spite of the wonderful views and lovely welcome basket, we would not go there again....
