Holsome Hideaway

We recently stayed in the shepherd's hut and had a lovely, relaxing break overall. The hut was easy to find, although a few additional signs on the approach would make arrival even easier. It looked exactly like the photos and was clean, comfortable and surprisingly spacious, with plenty of room to move around. The kitchen seating area was a great addition, and the views from the bed were beautiful to wake up to each morning. The welcome provisions were a lovely touch and very much appreciated. The champagne, eggs, bacon, sausages and milk made us feel incredibly welcome and helped make the stay feel extra special. The TV worked perfectly and despite being located on a working farm, we experienced no issues with noise or smells during our stay. The location was great, with the Avon Inn only a short drive away. There were a few areas where improvements could be be made. Unfortunately, the boiler had not been switched on prior to our arrival, which resulted in a very cold and uncomfortable shower when we first arrived. We also couldn't work out how to operate the heating, so a simple instruction guide would be beneficial. The fridge ran very cold and froze some of our food and a couple of additional frying pans would be useful for guests cooking meals. We also ran out of bin liners during our stay, so having spare liners available would have been helpful. Extra towels would also be appreciated. An extractor fan above the oven would help when cooking as well. The hot tub was the only aspect of the stay that we didn't particularly enjoy. As it is a log-fired hot tub, we found it difficult to get the temperature right. It was warm when we arrived on Saturday but by Sunday morning it had gone cold. We asked Louise if it could be heated while we were out for the day but by Sunday evening it had become too hot for us to use comfortably. One other thing worth mentioning is that the bed was quite high. I personally had to use the sofa to help climb into it, which could be challenging for some guests, particularly those with mobility concerns. Overall, these were relatively minor issues in what was otherwise a wonderful stay. The setting was peaceful, the hut was cosy and well-equipped and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. We would happily recommend it to others looking for a countryside getaway and would certainly consider returning in the future....

Very well presented website and easy to follow, appreciate the extensive info on nearby activities/areas which helped when planning out our holiday.

A really delightful shepherd's hut, very generously spaced! Loads of room, lots of storage (a fortnight's forth of stuff fits under the bed comfortably!). Beautiful views and the hot tub is just wonderful. We would definitely return. Louise was an excellent host, with prompt conversation and helpful information....

We had a lovely stay. Amazing views! Louise was very accommodating during our stay and texted a couple of times checking that all was well. Milk and breakfast for the following morning was very much welcomed. Thank you!
