Miss Stratton-Kent February 2026

This is a beautifully designed house that completely exceeded my expectations. I was there for six nights and am in love with this home. I miss it! The unexpected extra room, ideal as a home office or a children’s TV den, proved invaluable for my remote work with a large screen set-up. It would be great to highlight this space in the listing for future guests, I don't recall reading about it and it was a real boon. The property offers a tranquil rural setting with stunning countryside and sea views, a convenient carport, and a spacious outdoor area that, while a bit chilly during my stay, promises wonderful summer use. The neighbourhood is quiet and unintrusive, and the nine-home estate is well-spaced, giving me plenty of privacy. Inside, the house flows thoughtfully from room to room, providing dedicated zones for my activities: yoga, work, dining, reading, sewing, laundry, sleeping, and watching films. The kitchen is superbly equipped, featuring a fast-heating oven. A plug on the central island for portable appliances that guests bring such as, in my case, my Thermomix, would be a welcome addition, as would an air-fryer. The main bedroom boasts an incredibly comfortable bed, and the bathrooms are well-fitted. The large entrance lobby leading into a well-appointed utility room, the cosy sitting area, and thoughtfully curated artwork add to the overall sense of light, spaciousness, and comfort throughout. It was easy and convenient to book a Waitrose grocery delivery to the doorstep, and good to know the well-stocked local shop was there as back up. Not far away is a popular farm shop for local treats. And the nearby beauty salon in walking distance in Bigbury was exceptional. A tiny glitch occurred on the first two mornings when the sitting-room TV turned on at 6?am, which was startling (though I appreciated the wake-up call!) but this didn’t happen again. Overall, the house provided the perfect “bridge” stay between house moves, delivering a restful, joyful retreat that felt like my own personal sanctuary. Guests will love the local beaches and villages, and there are plenty of footpaths on the doorstep to enjoy. I have property envy for this place and I can’t wait to return, ideally in better weather and without the need to work from home so much, so that I can explore the surroundings even more. ...
