Mrs Harper September 2026

Rose Cottage is an easy five minute walk to the sea and long promenade in one direction and a similar distance to the lovely Military Canal and Hythe town centre, where there is an excellent fabric and haberdashery shop. We were able to park right outside the cottage on each occasion, and we felt safe in the very interesting residential area. The beds were very comfortable and the shower room very good, as was the en suite bathroom - a small torch was vital during the night to highlight the two steps up/down. The garden was also lovely. There’s a large Waitrose with cafe at one end of Hythe and a large Sainsbury’s and Aldi at the other. Close to the cottage is the local library and museum, which is a delightful facility and well worth a visit. We found plenty to do and explore around that stretch of Kent coast, including Walmer Gardens, overlooking Dover ferry port at White Cliffs NT car park, Samphire Hoe, St Mary’s Bay and Dungeness, where we had fish and chips in the really good railway cafe. We’re looking forward to returning before too long. ...

Rose Cottage is a charming, well-equipped and cosy retreat, ideally located close to both the beach and the town. The owner was very helpful, and we thoroughly enjoyed a wonderful pre-Christmas break. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a relaxing and memorable stay in a traditional, atmospheric cottage. We would love to return!...

Walled garden, cosy fireplace, stylish and suitable furnishing, very nice communication with the owner - we felt very much welcomed and at home in Rose Cottage.

What a great cottage, furnished and decorated like a home, not a holiday flat. Beautiful walled garden with shady and sunny seating. After a long journey on a warm day, the armchairs in the garden with cushions were waiting for us, bottle openers on the table and a pale ale for each of us in the fridge. What a great welcome, thank you so much! We would love to come back, hopefully for longer....

We enjoyed two nights in this wonderful home, and it truly is a home. Comfortable, with furnishings in keeping with the period of the house, varied artwork and curios, and we assume, the odd family photo or two. The bedrooms are so comfortable! And the shower, excellent. Beautiful walled garden, spent time sitting in the shade under the tree admiring the hollyhocks and peonies. We were there on two of the hottest days of the year, but the house was cool because of the stone walls, a refuge from the heat. Location is excellent, five minutes walk to the front, same to the Royal Military Canal in the opposite direction and a couple of minutes on to the busy High Street. Park your car and forget about it. We thoroughly enjoyed our break and wish we could have stayed longer....
